I used to take Lyrica. I thought it worked "great" and "thank God for the magic pill". Well, now I'm eating my words. [ pass the hot sauce ] The worst medication I ever took. I actually believe it made the other fibro symptoms worse! Is it just my screwed up body? Have any of you felt the same?

BAVO ladies. Thank you for the information. I never knew that neurontin is gabopentinol.

I am having great success with Lyrica so far. I believe it has actually gotten me walking again. I'm not totally pain free but I am able to work and move about. My level of pain is tolerable. I can't believe it affects everyone so differently! I know many have reported weight gain so I'm weighing often to see if there is a change but so far no gain. Yeah!! I've been on it for almost 6 months.

Lyrcia did not work for me. I was on it for 4 or 5 months. Bad side effects. I even got more pain. Glad it's working for some people. I take Ultram and it gives me some relief.

I took Lyrica as well and the side affects were so terrible I had to stop taking it. I gained a lot of weight, had trouble with balance and had memory loss. I am currently on Neurontin and it is working well for me and am side affect free from it.

Hi Tmac,

I think I had almost every bad side effect lyrica had. But I forgot most of them because of the memory loss. I'm sure my husband can remember them. I think I put him threw hell when I was on it.

I think I've been on it about 2 yrs now. 300mg a day

I really don't think it's working anymore, it was great for a while.

I want off of it - the weight gain is horrible..........

I'll keep taking it for now until the doctor has me come down on it.

I want off too.400mg a day and I've gained 25 lbs in 2 months, but my rhum. believes it's a wonder drug and is not willing to prescribe any other narcotics. I'm also woorried about the long term effect of celebrex and wondering if I should be on both meds.

Smiley,

I took Lyrica for about five months and it absolutely caused me more pain. I couldn't believe it. At first I thought I was doing something wrong. I called my doctor and he said to keep giving it time. I thought I was going to go crazy if I was on it for one more day. It also caused weight gain. Finally, I told him that I was going to stop all of my medication because nothing he gave me helped. I could not take one more Lyrica or I would jump off the bridge! I wouldn't recommend that drug to my worst enemy! What kills me is the woman in the commercial. She looks anorexic and it does the exact opposite with swelling and weight gain. It is not by any means a "magic pill." I'm glad it is really helping some people, but I think the majority of people have bad reactions.

Terri

Hi Terri, I'm also new to this group, but not to fibromyalgia. I was diagnosed with fibro 26 yrs ago. I've been on Lyrica for a few yrs now, and I don't notice any diffference. I was on Neurontin and I was able to manage the pain a little better. Not pain free though. Talk about that ad on tv, you're right she's skinny. I don't know how much weight I put on, but I did put some on. That ad irritates the devil out of me. I end up muting it usually. One thing, fibro is getting more noticed. Actually, I think they're just advertising the drug, and the heck with the fibro. Thanks again for your thoughts. You can post me here, if you want. Take care.
