It was announced today ( June 21) that Lyrica has become the first drug to receive FDA approval for the treatment of Fibromyalgia.

http://www.pfizer.com/pfizer/are/mn_news_frame.jsp? frameurl=http://mediaroom.pfizer.com/portal/site/pfizer/ index.jsp?epi-content=GENERIC%26newsId=20070621005991% 26ndmHsc=v2

It has been out for quite some time,,but never had that "APPROVED STATUS" For fibro,,,this is a huge step for us ,,,and hopefully just the beginning...

I don't take this med,,took its counter part Neurontin..with bad results,,but everyone is different I have heard people say its great (lyrica) and some say not so good,,as usually everyone is different.

I do take this drug, and also used to be on Neurontin. I find that this is a wonderful drug for neuropathy (I'm also diabetic) in my feet and for the shooting, stabbing pains all over my body.

you know when I first went on the Neurontin,,It was great,,I was able to go off 3 meds,,and my morphine,,as the dose increased, my feet started hurting really bad I could barely walk,,we weren't sure if it was the med,,so we lowered the dose, started to go away then went back to the dose I was at,,and forget it,,plus I gained 15 lbs in 2 weeks,,,all I did was crave junk..anyway I had to go back on the morphine just to come off..I am glad it works for you ,,I am always glad when someone finds something that helps them..I am such a hardy I guess,,I have pre diabetes,,and yesterday my sugar was 32,,I though I was dying,,now I find out the thing I was taking glucose tabs to help when sugar drops isn't the right thing...anyway glad your having positive results. take care

I do better on Lyrica than on Neurontin, by the way. And i gained 25 lbs on Neurontin. Ugh!

What do you mean that taking glucase tabs isn't the right thing to do when sugar drops? That's what they are for! I am diabetic-- 15 years now, but I was hypoglycemic for about 20 years before that.

thank you,,I did of course just do some checking ,,I was in the pharmacy field for over 18 yrs,,my hubbie is and my dad is a pharmacist..lol I am actually more knowledgable then they are,,prob cause have to keep up to date for the site too,,but it does say as the first thing to take them,,I am sure she was mixed up,fibro fog. when I read these things I don't even think I should be on Actos,,,my sugars have never been high,, when I tested them,, I am going to have a talk with doc this week,,I had told him before that they drop to 60, he said that wasn't low,,,I said well for me it is when I am about to pass out,,,you can imagine how I felt when it was 32..now I am nervous its going to happen again,,u know,,like i keep waiting for it,,,I am testing myself constantly where before if I tested myself once a month that would be it. ever time I feel that sensation I think my sugar dropped thanks for the post,,and hi Bern, glad u signed up, the coding for colors and bold work the same as the on the site,

correct URL for Pfizer article now:

http://mediaroom.pfizer.com/portal/site/pfizer/index.jsp? ndmViewId=news_view&newsId=20070621005991&newsLang=en

OMG This means that Fibro is getting recognition!

In my local area there have recently been news reports and newspaper articles naming Fibro as a silent disease.

I'm definately glad to hear that you're having good results on Lyrica. I also tried Nuerontin Fibrochicky but I had a totally strange reaction to it. Began to hallucinate and not know where I was. It was quite a trip.

Now I just wish I could find something that could help with the pain and get rid of this constant flulike feeling I have which I somehow wonder if it has anything to do with a withdrawal symptom to either my Restoril for sleep or Methadone which has been increased. OOOOOOOhhhhh I so wish I could like not take any more pills at all. A hypospray a day and I'm good to go. Which by the by actually exists now but still has to be approved by the FDA.
