I was diagnosed 6 years ago, following complications from a sonohystogram i had due to side effects of tamoxifen I was given for breast cancer (caught very early luckily)

Although I had torn my abdominal and oblique muscles from profuse vomitting caused by the severe pain I was in -caused by a MRSA infection in my abdominal cavity, my delayed physical recovery prompted my pcp to run labs and then refer me to a rheumatologist, because they believed I displayed symptoms of Fibromyalgia, as well as the Chronic Myofascial Pain syndrome that my neuromuscular specialist was already treating me for.

My dilema is there is very little written on the dual diagnosis. Devon Star a doctor whom also has this diagnosis has a good write up on it, but otherwise there is nothing.

I do know that what works for one diagnosis, does not work for the other, and trying to stretch/strengthen the muscles can make both worse.

Any input on what works for you would be greatly appreciated. My current therapies help, but do not sufficiently aleviate the pain cycles.

thanks

I have been dx with both as well. I don't really have any info for you though. I also have multiple autoimmune disorders, so I can never really tell which is which. lol

Your best bet is to try and find a good doctor to work on a treatment plan with.

My dx: Psoriatic Arthritis, Fibromyalgia, Sjogren's syndrome, Degenerative disc disease, 2 herniated discs, Endometriosis, TMJ, IBS, Costocondritis, bipolar, and possible Anklydosis Spondylitis.

I don't have myofascial pain syndrome but I do have multiple other illnesses/diseases that make it difficult to manage. Since they are all competing to be the most painful or whatever of the day, without one being in control it worsens the other and so on. I haven't yet found a dr who understands that so I can't really give any advice. Just that I know how frustrating this is.
