MDJunction to me

liamacker"The part of my recovery plan that I would say made up 80% is MDJ. I suffered a lot prior to finding MDJ, felt alone and had no one to talk to who really understood me. In the Bipolar Group I found like minded individuals who I could relate to and who offered support to me when I needed it. As I recovered, I could then offer support to them which gave me a good feeling about myself. I have met some great people here who I would class as good friends and know I would still be in the slump I was in without them. Now I am stable, I know that MDJ plays an important part in keeping me that way. Thank you MDJ for being there for us all and making us no longer feel alone." (liamacker)

I about 3 hours ago I started getting that true 'nerve pain' under the shoulder blades. I'm at work and busy and just kind of ignored it. 12:30 friends say lunch? and off we go. I am sitting in booth shoulder blades getting steadily worse, kicking myself for having 'nothing' with me to take and I realize my hands are numb. Like not foot asleep from sitting on it but kinda.

If I didn't know that was part of this, I would have been terrified. I came back and put a Flector patch on as this usually helps keep the 'blade' pain from reaching the hands and lower arms but its doing nothing and my left hand is almost totally numb.

A question for those who have had this before? I know the pain is bi-lateral (both arms, legs what ever) but is it usually the same in both? My left arm/hand is so much worse than my right I am a little concerned.

Thanks for listening.

Julie

I've never experienced numbness in my hands unless I sit a certain way with my arms up, but it doesn't have anything to do with shoulder blade pain...of course I have that 90% of the time... I do however have my toes go to sleep, and usually it is only on one foot at a time, and just a few toes. Out of nowhere, it's very strange. However if it continues, I would def contact your dr. Sorry, not much help...HUGS

Becky -

Thanks for responding anyways. I think I waited way too long to put on my patch but now, hours later I am starting to get feeling back. I guess I have to get over myself huh? I hate asking for help but without my coworkers help I couldn't have gotten that on like I needed. Mental note to self: You are worth asing for help when you need it.

Julie, If this continues to happen more regularly, you may want to see your doctor to check out if you have a pinched nerve in your cervical spine (neck) that is radiating to your shoulders and arms. I hope that you are feeling much better.

Gentle hugs,

Donna

you are most deffinatly worth it..

O worry when I hear of weakness and numbness because I suffer from nerve problems.I also have it in my arm..I guess one way to figure how bad is if it doesnt go away but gets worse with use..I have lost the complete use of my arm from times and it is very scarey..if we were a normal person we would rush to the hospital in a panic..

I put a pain patch(over the counter salon pas) between my neck and shoulder blade some times it will help..

we all have alot to give if one gets the help then some of this suffering is worth it..

remeber I am not a doctor I just say what I think

I thought you had had issues with numbness (keeping everything straight used to be so much easier). It eased up as the night (Friday) went on and was 'normal' by morning. I think if I had put a patch (whatever kind) on earlier I would have avoided the numbness. I was just being stupidly stubborn. I won't be in this reocurs and see if it does head it off. I don't see my Rheumy until early Nov but think I need to start keeping track of some of this.

Thanks to you and everyone else,

Julie

Do you find it worse in one arm than the other? Sometimes?

Left side numbness is part of my daily life...It gets so bad sometimes i cant talk walk think and sometimes ly whole left side goes paralyitic state for anywhere from 3hrs to 3 days... yep thats fun... Boston doctors couldnt figure it out so they wanted to send me to a shrink LOL I told them to stick where the sun dont shine and i am in NC now establishing my self with Duke doctors to see what they can do .. my primary care even said it is not part of fibro.. so stay tuned Smile

It doesn't have to be the exact same at the same time on both sides. My right side has always been much worse then my left. As for the numbness, I have that in both feet and hands and some in my face from time to time. Every time I drive anywhere my left side of my left leg and foot goes numb. It's very annoying. I also have my right arm that won't move at all and has no feeling in it from time to time upon waking but I think that's from subluxing my shoulder in my sleep. If it continues though I would certainly speak with your doctor about it.
