Hi everyone. i have fibromyalgia,tendonitis,bursitis and many other issues. but, i was wondering if anyone know what to do about arms and legs pain?my ammune is really bad since i am a cancer survivor that none of the fibro meds seems to work for me(so, not on anything for fibro).Anyway i am on tremadol/sometimes percs and flexiril for my fibro pain but nothing seems to help with the pain in my arms and thighs/legs. can anyone help me with this. i see my rheumy next week. but i can't handle anymore of this pain. even tried valiums.. was suppose to see a nature dr. but going through other issues at this time..

~~~Does anyone know what to do about pain in arms? and legs?~~~~~~~~~~
I have found for me, before I started on this awful Lyrica journey, a thing called Flector patches did me a lot of good for arm/hand pain. Mine would start under the shoulder blades but if I could catch it there, I could minimize the arm pain I couldn't ignore. I would place a patch up and down, over my spine. Dr said wasn't sure why this worked but as was only an occasional need, was ok. They were originaly provided to me when I cracked a couple of ribs.
Legs on the other hand? Sigh when they get going the only thing that helps in heat. I have an electric mattress pad and I just love it.
Best of wishes in finding that which will work best for you.
Julie
One other thing I used to use that I will probably go back to is mustard seed extract. I found out about it when I had issues with adhesions and 2 weeks post op was starting to see the same symptoms. Its at 'real' health food stores in the homepath section. I think its Theosinaminum but it might be Theominsinum. It appears to be a natural anti inflamatory that has no side effects and apparently no interaction issues. The down side it you take it for 10 days and then taken 4 days off. I think this is to maintain effectiveness. I wasn't sure how much it was helping until I had the 4 days off. Then again how many of us wouldn't trade 4 days for 14 huh?
you are really putting something out there for pain that I never heard of and I am going to look in to it for myself. I want to trade off 4 days of pain for 14!
Thanks for your good advice.
Have you tried taking any magnesium? Or taking an Epsom salt bath? I was skeptical that Epsom salts could make a difference,but I do get temporary relief after I soak in them. Most of my pain is in my arms,hands,legs and feet as well,and its misrable!! I hope you find something that helps!! Laura
MsLaurie,
Welcome to our group, if I haven't said so already. (Fibro fog sometimes makes me forget who I have already talked to..lol) We hope we can be of help to you with suggestions, support, and even humor to break it up. Glad you chimed in. Hope to see you a lot so we can get to know you better!
I have more arm/hand/neck/leg pain than anywhere else. I would definately check the stuff that Jule suggested. I have never had a lot of luck with anything besides pain meds, and that is just really covering it up. If you are having inflammation, you should ask your dr for an anti inflamatory. But, check out the natural stuff first...If it helps, all the better! HUGS
Please do not take anything I say as medical advice. I am not a doctor.
Laurie,
My consistent problem areas are hands, feet, cervical area and thighs. Even with meds I still have pain. I like warm baths, massages and water stretching. I haven't tried mustard seed, but it's worth a shot. Hope you find some relief.
I wanted to add, I haven't regularly used it for FM. I dabbled in it a bit when I was first diagnosed and it took the stiffness away (which after the first flare was my problem). The huge relief I found was after adhesions.
That being said, I'm going to go back on it for FM now due to removing the Lyrica. I am very hopeful it was help. Maybe not remove the pain but if it takes care of the day to day, I'll address the 'bad days'.
I would say to try the diffrent meds again 12 yrs ago I tried so many diffrent meds I didnt know there are so many..but now I can take some I couldnt before and some help that wouldnt before..for the patches what ever you do dont use heat on them it can and will cause over dose. Im wondering is the pain more a craming feeling? you might be low on potassuime? do you drink water? I myself hate water I know its odd but force myself to drink it..they have over the counter pain patches I love Salon pas,I found them at walmart they help for localized pain..and as always talk to your doc, you might have something else going on
we all have alot to give if one gets the help then some of this suffering is worth it..
remeber I am not a doctor I just say what I think
