MDJunction to me

Sylvia4648"I have suffered from depression most of my life, but had some long, non-depressed times. The last 16 years have been an on-going, constantly worsening nightmare for me medically, socially and with my family. 11/2008 to the present has been the worst time in my life, and new things just keep piling up. During that time I’ve gone from being mostly homebound to being totally homebound due to the errors of about 2 dozen doctors who overmedicated me so badly that I came home w/ 4 conditions I didn’t go in with. I spent months wanting to die, and finding MDJ may well have saved my life. It’s one of the worst feelings to know that nobody on earth needs you for anything; but now that I’ve been a group leader for awhile, there are people here who need me. Thanks MDJ." (Sylvia4648)

Hey everyone! Supposed to have a decision on my disability by 9/14. Any and all thoughts and prayers are welcome! It is my first time up, but the person helping with my paperwork has had more first time approvals than denials, so I am hoping for the best. Went to see an attorney about my divorce, he was more interested in my disability claim, and noted to me that I certainly looked like I deserved it. (hmmm, do I take that good or bad???) lol

I am driving my physicians insane. They are leaning toward fibro, but I have so many other symptoms that aren't 'fibro'. I don't know if I am pushing for a diagnosis so hard because I want a diagnosis, ergo a treatment plan, ergo a prognosis, etc. or because I want something identifiable so that I can be approved for my disability. Really, I just want to feel better.

Doctor's are getting crabby with me. I know that I do, and am not going to pretend that we all aren't pretty well versed in what's going on with us, but they tell me I am brining too many symptoms that aren't within their scope or diagnosis. Sooooo, that 12 year post secondary education is supposed to make them knowledgable enough to decide which are pertinant and which aren't, correct? It's my job to tell them what's going on, and they tell me what they think/test/know/etc... just my thought.

So after back to back appointments with that happening last week, I, this week have super painful and super swollen lymph nodes in my neck, on the right side. Well, I smashed and cut my right hand this weekend, I have a couple of abcesses on my right perineum and I have a broken tooth, all on my right side. My nodes are so painful I cant lift my right arm, turn my head to the right, or swallow/chew. They are sticking out farther than my jaw bone. So, that said, the fact that I have a serious infection every 6-10 weeks, not really fibro related. Ugh. Just get so tired of fighting the fight! Anyway, I have a dr appt tomorrow, hopefully they can get this latest infection under control.

I continue to pray for better understanding, better patience, better mood, and try to remain hopeful. At this point, I think that is totally part of my treatment plan!

Thanks for the time and the prayers everyone!

Holly,

We are really glad you found us, and hope that you feel comfortable here.

We will pray that your disability will come through for you. We all know how important that is. As for the drs getting crabby...remember one thing. They work for you. Regardless of what symptoms you have, you are the only one who knows your body and how you feel. Let them know that you are there for help, not an attitude. You cannot help what symptoms you have, and whether they fit into a diagnosis norm or not.

I'm sorry that you are feeling so badly. Again, prayers go out for you. HUGS

Please do not take anything I say as medical advice. I am not a doctor.

Hi Holly!! You are definately in my prayers. I was finally approved for SSDI this spring, and it took 2 years of fighting to get it. Its a terribly frustrating process, and I pray that you will be approved. It sounds like you have a lot going on right now. Please hang in there and keep us posted. Welcome to the group, there are so many wonderful people here, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!!

I'm also praying that you'll get your approval. It took almost 2 years to get mine too and I ended up before the judge. That was scary! So I'm hoping that you get approved. Fibro is one of those illnesses that love to attach itself to another one. So it is very possible that it isn't just fibro so that's why you have those extra symptoms. It's possible that you have a seperate disease/illness and that fibro just decided to come along for the ride. I think that if your drs aren't willing to look beyond that tiny box, it may be time to find one who'll see beyond that.

I'm an Advocate

Hello Holly and welcome to our family, I will seek blessings for you that you recieve your disability and that your pain lessens. Docs can become irritated with us when our symptoms seem so unrelated but he/she should be able to take you list of symptoms and determine which are fibro related and which may be something else. It is their job to determine what is causing which symptoms and then find a cure, relief or both. My doc always says "well what are we working on today Fibro or something else?" and then we determine which one it is. I hope your docs can figure it out if not maybe you can find another one.
