Hi gals,

I have a question that hopefully someone will have an answer? My mattress is shot, its 10 yrs old and even though my mom bought one of those expensive foam toppers to conform to your pressure points, my hubby and I are waking up pretty sore, (no not in a good way) LOL. So I was just wondering if anyone has recently heard or actually purchased a new mattress that helped alleviate some of the pain associated with tender pts and help with pressure pts

much appreciated

Kristine

Hi Kristine, we did do a discussion on mattresses last fall. Go up to the search box and type in mattresses. It will take you to those discussions. But don't worry, someone will come along with some answers for you. There's been allot of people joining lately and maybe they have some different ideas and suggestions.

I completely missed this somehow. I've been doing a lot of that lately. I too would be interested to hear if anyone has found a miracle mattress. Mine isn't very old and is in great condition, but I can feel every spring. (No one else can. It's like The Princess and the Pea.)

When I moved into my house a little over a year ago, I treated myself to the cheapest tempupedic mattress, which isn't all that cheap at $2,000. It is very comfortable, although in all honesty I can't say that I feel all that better, but there are other reasons for that. It sleeps very hot. As it turns out, shortly after I bought it, it seems I have slipped into menopause, which my doctor just confirmed with blood tests (seems I'm completely lacking in estrogen). So I wake up every several hours from the unbelievable night sweats. I wish I could be more helpful but my sleep has been so non-restful I can't really say whether without this problem I would feel better. It is very, very comfortable and if you can sleep through the night, it probably would give you a restful sleep. But again, it bears repeating that it sleeps very hot so if you are sensitive to this, I wouldn't recommend it.

A few yrs ago, I got so sick of waking up sore (didn't know I had Fibro) so I called the warranty in on my $2500 mattress set that was only 2 yrs old. Turns out they came out and measured it and it had a 6 inch dip in the middle of it so they gave me my money back.

I went and got a no flip soft top that you never have to flip. Not sure of the brand but it is the most comfy bed I have ever been on.

I bought my present mattress 15 years ago at Monkey Wards before they went out of business. It cost me $1,000 back then on sale. It's still going good. Its a serta mattress with the extra fluffy thing top on both sides so I can flip it. It had a 20 year gaurantee.

Best mattress I've ever had.

Me and my hubby went out and bought a brand new bed (can't remember the name) But it is right in the middle between firm and soft. I think it is more firm, but I have never had a new bed before just hand me downs so mine were already worn so maybe it is right in the middle. Anywhooo..um...oh yea! I am not saying that it is caused by the mattress but the mattress doesn't help at all with the fact that if I sleep more then 5-6 hours on the bed I am soooo sore and stiff Pinch I mean really I am walking around like a 100 year old, yes ladies normally it's a 90 year old but really walking like a 100 year old til the meds kick in. So painful. So even on the weekends I have to set my alarm and get up early no sleeping in for me!!

I have been sleeping on memory foam mattress for the past 6 months or so. It has been a great mattress for my fibro. Since i am skinny and boney anyways, this extra foam that gives and forms to you has been great!!!

Oh, alot of you will get a kick out of this, but I slept on a waterbed for about 19 years! And I loved it. Heated, conformed to my body. But, after 19 years it was finally shot, thats when i got a "big girl" mattress! Smile I spent all of $350 at a discount place. It has the pillow top. I thought I would hate a real mattress but actually I loved it. Very comfortable. However, since I got the mattress I have gotten the fibro. I really dont think it has anyting to do with it of course. Just odd. My sister had a temperpedic expensive mattress and she says she gets very hot sleeping in it. I recently (last weekend) got myself a temperpedic neck pillow and its wonderful! They should outlaw regular pillows! Anywayyyy, I hope you find the answers you need to buy the right kind of mattress!
