With me they ruled out every other illness it could possible be. There are 18 tender points, if you have no fewer than 11 and hypersensitivity overall thet has lasted 6 months or longer it's fms.

some doctors say FMS is caused by a neurotransmitter cascade which causes changes throughout the body.

"Fibromyalgia & Chronic Myofascial Pain" a survival manual - is a great book with lots of useful information.

There is a light at the end of the tunnel -- but it's a train about to run over you.

Thank you so much, I having been looking for some good reading material to help me understand some of what is happening to me. I've been struggling with this darn disease for so long now and the symptoms just keep on commin!! I'm so happy to have found this group. Being so bound in by a domestic abuser, prevented my doing research on line for help and connection to others like me. Now that I'm finally free I can have my home care provider take me to a book store as soon as she arrives this morning!. (after the YIKES! dentist appt.)

CoffeeinTN, After my dental appt, today I was able to find and buy the book you recommended, From the minute I opened it I felt like I was reading my autobiography. Can't thank you enough. I need to show my P.A.next visit so she can be of more help to me. I get the feeling from all of my complaints to her and walking out without answers time after time, that she knows very little about this disease. She has always treated some of the more intense symptoms and let it go at that. So now I know more about what and why things are happening to me and though its frustrating at least I don't have to live in blind fear. A Huge relief!!

Its a shame we have to do all that testing just to get to our diagnosis. I dont know about you guys but mine took at least 12 years I went through the whole 9 yards. You know their routine, they tell you youre stressed they test you for allergies they test your blood they give you MRIs they take x-rays they take.......God Im so tired of tests. But yes that seems to be the routine. Thank God for health insurance.

You know Froggy,

I am surprised that it took so long and know offense but I have found men are believed and helped more and faster whenever they are in pain.....however, I'm a bit prejudice right now from the experience with my doc today. He weans me off my fentanyl patch and tells me he's going to try something different. Well, I'm also on darvocets for certain types of Ha's too, anyways now he says he can't give me 2 narcotics. Well, he sees my hubby and guess what he gives him...Vicodin and darvocets!!! I only decided to go to him because he was closer and he agreed to give me what I was on from my old doctor but he reneged. He did offer to give me just Vicodin 5/550 (my hubby gets 7/650)but no darvocets either for me.

Guess I'm venting...sorry! Well to make matters worse my husband went to the ER because he also gets bad Ha's, guess what he gets? He gets Toradol then Morphine then gave him Vicodin to take home....uuuurrggggg!!!! See, I feel better already

Well, that's my sad, sad story and no offense to men but Doctors are usually on my hate list!!

It just seems they look at women differently, like it's more psychological or we're HYSTERaical!!!

Thanks for letting me vent (but of course your a captive audience ) so your kinda stuck here

Thanks and type soon,

Spruce
