I am furious. We had snow late Wed. nite. Bout 3 inches. My son shoveled halfway thru it and then was called in to work early Thurs am (landscaping and snow removal). He did not get home until 9pm. I was in no shape to shovel and Thursday at 3 pm the city came out and shoveled my sidewalk - about an inch of snow and said I am being fined $50. This was not even 24 hours since it had stopped snowing and we had 6 to 10 more inches coming Thusday night anyway. I drove up to City Hall and the twentsomething behind the desk literally rolled her eyes at her coworker when I told her why I was there. I wanted to knock her eyeballs down her throat. I told her it hadn't been 24 hrs and she told me the ordinance doesn't state a timeframe so they can do this even while it's still snowing if they like if I am not outside shoveling when they show up. Now I wanted to knock her teeth out. Instead I asked for a disability assistance form and she asked me if I was a senior citizen. I lost it. I took the form, told her now they can come cleanup the 10 inches in the morning for free and told her to shove the fine up her a....... because they don't even plow the streets. Don't get me started on the tickets this city issues for parking in the street even though we live on a no plow ever street.

I would have been pi**ed off and would have wanted to smack her too. Grrrrr...so people just have no manners or compassion.

Did you get all the snow you were suppsed to get last night? We got a few more inches of snow but I can hear the icy rain on the window right now. I don't mind the snow, but ice on top of it Sad

Hope today is a better day for you.

hugggggs,

Denise

It is a blizzard here right now and news says we have 5 inches right now. I did not go into work as I no longer have the strength in my hands to clean off the dang truck in the mornings. And honestly, due to joint pain in hands and feet I am sure I am not even a safe driver in the mornings anymore, let alone in ice and snow.

I'd be shoving that ticket "somewhere unpleasant" on Little Miss Eye Roller! W00t

Ignorance...is bothersome, but NOT your problem.

It may be inconvenient to do so, but I would fight the ticket, apply for the assistance and watch them come and shovel for you for the rest of the season!

Don't forget to point out any spots they miss as you hover over them...And make sure you call even if there is only a dusting and/or still snowing and demand snow removal be done round the clock...seeing as that's what expected from citizens...

Come on people(buearocrats)!!! A little Common Sense PLEASE!!

PS...happy holidays!

That was just asinine, and with more snow coming! I would go to a city council meeting or the city offices and fight it.

I would have told her to shove it tooBlush

I called city assistance this morning and they said they are backed up and since enrollment takes weeks ,I am on my own for now. She also told me she was flooded with calls from people yesterday that are enrolled because they also got hit with tickets and even if you are on this program the city will not waive the tickets as you are responsible to hire a company if the city doesn't show up with assistance. I guess I am supposed to beg my neighbors? as I cannot afford snow removal everytime it snows.

Unbelievable! It must have taken some real strength to not feed her her eyeballs and teeth. I don't know if I would have contained myself. They take their sweet time and you are expected to be a miracle worker. I would not even attempt shoveling and if they try to fine you again talk to your doctor. I find it rediculous that they can fine you while it is still snowing. What do they expect you to do? I justdon't know what to say. I am sorry you have to deal with this.
Favorite Poem :
It is such a relief when you first find out.
That the pain really does have a name,
And then you will ask (and everyone does),
"Just where can i place all the blame".
No matter the limits, no matter the pain,
There's no evil, cruel "Master Plan".
It just simply happens, It just simply is.
You adapt, and you change what you can.
But even with the knowing the best and the worst,
All the pitfalls the future could hold,
You still have a choice, you quit or you fight.
You determine the story that's told.
And every small step that we take, my dear friends,
Each battle that we slowly win,
Just credits the love and the caring we share
With the FMily that we call our friends.

I will be fighting this ticket. I have lived here 11 yrs and they have never enforced this that I know of. I'm sure it is their effort to make money from the lost taxes due to all the foreclosures and job losses. They just don't need to throw salt into the wound on top of it.

And Yes, Iknowpain, it took every ounce of control ,not to get myself arrested. I wish I would have laid into her since now I am battling a migraine today from the added stress.

I'm sitting here with my mouth hanging open. What in God's name are they thinking? It's still snowing and they are issuing tickets before it stops?? If I was you I'd put a big sign out in my front yard. 'BEWARE OF SNOW' That is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of. Most towns give you a few days to clear the snow.

As for the floozie at City Hall I'd hand her a snow shovel and tell her where you lived so she could shovel it herself and when she gets there stick a broom up her butt so she can sweep the stuff she misses.

Merry Christmas to ya'll

Denise, I love the girrafe or giraffe.
