The Great Wide Sea book???

Has any one read the mystery novel The Great Wide Sea?? Just wondering what exactly happend to the dad? I didnt get finished reading it and it got returned to the librarey. dont really wana go up there and re check it out just wana know bout the book and the ending?? (reading gives me headaches also)
