So as ive sad b4 i have began taking Lyrica, ive taken it for Two weeks. Since i started taking it i have been rediculously tired. I have slept and slept and still i want more sleep. I have way less pain now. But it seems i have to take a break after everything i do. How in the world is driving making me tired? it litraly exhausts me to the point where i just wanna kick off my shoes and take a nap. im so happy that i hurt less and the stabbing pains and spasms have gotten so much better. now i need an energy boost. when i go into the store im so tempted to get on the motorscooters provided by the store. but i dont dare for what if someone i know sees me. i shouldnt care but i do. i dont like to share that i hv fibro bcz people are so judgemental. i just vent here about all the things that harbour me from finishing my chores. im gratefull that i can just release it all. well is guess im gonna take a nap...lol

Ladybug, I'm not taking Lyrica. Tried it but it didn't work out for me at all. Instead of doing what it's suppose to do I wound up having what seemed like mini-seizure symptom's once my blood level got to where it was suppose to. Two weeks. Upon noticing this I called my doctor and he titrated me back on the Cymbalta. Although I'm not completely pain free it seems to be doing the trick to slow down the pain signals.

They took me off of the Percocet and put me on Nucynta for the pain. That too seems to help but it too makes me way too groggy, less productive. Last appointment with the pain doctor I asked if I could go back on the percocet at a little higher dose because when I did take it I was more cognitive and could do things without fatiguing. Nope, they will not let me switch back! Well, I head to The Cleveland Clinic next week for more opinion's to see if my trigger for ALL of this could have something to do with fracturing my C-2 almost three years ago. It's been two years since I started developing my most severe symptom's.

I finally had a "mini melt-down" a few days ago when my latest flare was so bad I couldn't even get out of bed. The pain in my legs was so bad and no matter if I had taken my meds or not, nothing was helping! It's getting to the point for me to also start considering using the cart when at the supermarket. But, like so many of you I avoid it as to prevent the judgemental looks I'd get from other folks if I do. So, I just don't go any more. Hubby goes! Yet again, another thing going on that's changed the way my life use to be. I'm starting to mourn who I use to be. A very active, almost "Type-A" energy, bounding from one place to the other. Any more I'm lucky if I can muster up the ambition to just drive to friends houses just to get out of the house.

After I return from Cleveland I'm scheduled to start another series of lower lumbar injection's. I never thought I'd ever say this, but I can't wait!!!

Cheers,

Galley

Fibro is nortoriuse to cause fatiuge like you are talking about..you might talk to your doc and tell him its helping the pain but now the fatuige is crippling you as well.how sad it is you find one thing to help then find something else to deal with..usaully that type of fatuige is caused from not getting into the right rehlm sleep
we all have alot to give if one gets the help then some of this suffering is worth it..

remeber I am not a doctor I just say what I think

Ugh. I know exactly what you're talking about. Sometimes at night when my legs ache like that I will get in and out of the tub all night long. It's been much much better since I found the right dose of the Lyrica. But then again, I also found the Nucynta to work much better than the other pain meds I had tried. I usually don't feel as drunk with the Nucynta but there are times when it totally spaces me out too.

That is why fibro is so hard to treat. Everyone of us is different in what works.

Cleaning out some old folders last week, I found invitations I had made for my son's birthday's from age 4 to 10. I absolutely loved planning the most elaborate parties for him. If they gave trophies for the greatest kid parties, I would have taken first place. And I just broke down crying- "I miss that person. I want to be that person again" If I known how things would turn out just a few years later, I would have enjoyed it all so much more. And never complain about being tired. I didn't know what tired was!!! Being tired is not having the strength to walk back to the dairy section at the supermarket or not being able to brush your teeth at night because the short trip from the bed to the sink is as daunting as running a marathon.

Slow down calm down don't worry don't hurry Trust the process

I didn't get to read everyones response. I apologize if someone else has mentioned this already. First, have you had your thyroids checked. Second, are you sleeping well. Maybe ask the doc for a sleep aid. I notice when I take ambient( about once a week) I sleep heavier and wake up much more rested and not as tired. I was having trouble staying asleep and the ambien helps with that. Third, do have a lot of caffeine. Caffeine actually robs your body of iron. Iron is part of our energy source. So we eat or drinks the caffeine but when it leaves our body it actually takes our iron with it.

I don't know if this will help. Hope it does. I know the thoroughly exhausted feeling and I feel bad that you are dealing with that. Feel better soon

Doing my best to hold on to God's unchanging hand! Praying for healing for all my Fibromites.

I can so relate! Thank you for sharing this info. I too cannot explain how bad I feel after driving. I just now starting driving a little more and if I have to sit in traffic I feel pain and fatigue when I get home. I can't handle any kind of stress. My body is so sensitive to stress. My mind and emotions are not so sensitive to the stress. And I will tell you that prior to getting sick, traffic did not bother me.

I nap every day and sometimes more than once a day. this illness really can mess with someone's life. My life. I hope I can one day feel and act like a normal person again. And others around me do NOT understand. They will either say something like depression or aches and pains of people getting older. It's different!!!

Thanks for sharing and listening.

I'm an Advocate

Fatigue is a big part of Fibro. This is the biggest thing about Fibro that we all have to deal with. Each one of us handle it differenly. All we can do is try to find someway of making the fatigue better. Now that it's getting warmer, I spend alot of time outside. I enjoy being in the sun, just sitting and watching hummingbirds on my feeders or just reading a good book. This helps with the fatigue, my mood and my stress. But, talking to your doctor could help if you are falling or wanting to fall asleep while driving. Maybe he can give you something to help you sleep better at night. I'm on 600mgs. of Neurontin and there are times when that doesn't help, so I take a TynolPM with the Nurontin and it helps. My leg cramps keep me from sleeping no matter what I take. So good luck and talk to your doctor about some help with your fatigue. God Bless You. shortstuffSmile

Don't feel guilty for using a scooter. If its there, use it! You need to do whatever it takes to get through your day. No one else can feel what you feel, so don't let them make you feel guilty for doing it.

yes, I get very fatigued. Yesterday I slept pretty much all day. Today I feel sooooo much better for it! If you need to sleep, then sleep. If you need to do less in your day, then do less. If you need to find things to help conserve your energy then do it.

Fatigue is huge. learn what energy you do have, and then work within that boundary.

Good luck!

K
