I was denied 3 times and then went in front of a judge who was understanding and so then I was favorable as well. So I to say hang in there.

KitKat, the first time they denied me, it took 5 months to get an answer. Then I appealed right away and it took 6 months to get an answer. I think it just depends on the ssd worker you are assigned to and how much they are backlogged. I called my ssd person about every 3 weeks to see how things were going.

Maybe you should call them and see....

My first claim went thru and I was denied within three weeks of sending it in. I appealed it and was denied within 4 weeks.

My new claim has taken much longer, it was a full 6 months before I heard from them. I appealed in the beginning of May and still have not heard anything. I got ALLSUP involved and they are handling the claim now. I felt the SSA people were jerking me around and holding up my claim. I called the SSA office and they told me not to call them because they don't know anything more than I do and to wait the 6 months. That's when I got ALLSUP involved.

I had one full week of miminal fibro. Today I could hardly get out of bed I hurt so bad.

Hope everyone is having a good day.

Kitkat you are still on the prayer list.

Hugs to you

Jan

I have been on SSI for a year , I applied in Jan 07 and had it by June 07, it went pretty fast for me. I had letters from my doctor and my Pshyc doctor to. I had other people write letters to and I also wrote the governor of New Mexico and a senator also. I saw the SS doctor in April 07 and had my SSI in June 07. Keep working at it. and make copyies of everything you send them.

Hey guys it's been awhile since I posted or have been on the site, I've missed you all. I've been in the hospital alot do to all of my disease's Fibro and Addison's disease, anyway I got an atty after I was turned down the 1st time, now with an atty I've been turned down again, so now I'm to the point of going to an appeal judge and my atty said it could take 1-2yrs to get on the docket!! Are you kidding me,at the rate my health is declining (I have been in the hospital 30+times in the last year 1/2.) I had to quit work in 1/07 and filed for SSDI 11/07. This atty has done nothing she hasn't even gotten my medical records or CD from the SSA office in New Mexico and she's letting them jack her around and does nothing!!! And I'm the one suffering, If anyone has any advice I'm listening, and Cinnamon i would love to know how you go about writting the Gov in NM and what senator did you write. Thanks all for letting me vent, I hope you are all feeling better than me right now, Huggs to you all-Kimi

I filed in March of 2007. I had one of those companies that specializes in helping people file for SSD helping me. (I'd rather not mention their name.) They did 'okay' I guess. I was denied twice- the initial stage and the appeal/recon stage.

Then though, I felt like I wasn't getting any help from that company and decided to hire an actual attorney since I would be filing for an appeal with an ALJ.

She has been wonderful! She only handles disability cases. She is very helpful. Her office is good about getting my doctors notes, keeping me informed, etc. She told me from the beginning that if I ever had any questions and/or just wanted to find out the status of my case, just to call. But, I've not had to call for anything.

Well, we filed for the hearing with ALJ... uhm.... (brain fog here).... I think it was Sept. of 2007. And last week my attorney called to go through some things again (i.e. medication update, doctor updates, etc.) and told me that I should be scheduled for a hearing in Sept. or Oct. -So as you can see, that hearing part alone has taken a year to get.

Oh- and I tried writing everyone I could think of to get help. Even those that I knew couldn't/wouldn't help, like the governors, vp, and president. Yes, even the president. LOL! I was desperate.

I'm sure it helps in some states to write those people though.

I wrote a "Dire Need" letter also. My attorney didn't think it would help, even though I AM in dire need. But I did it anyway. Again, in some states- this might help.

If you want help with some of these letters...feel free to contact me. I'll gladly share mine, or some of the info. that I used in mine.

Amy

PS- When I filed for my hearing- my attorney told me that there were 4,800 backlogged cases in my state. And, that we only had 2 judges. Since then, the state has approved to hire 2 more judges. But with the training time, etc. ~I guess, knowing this- I'll just be happy to have a hearing date within a year.

I just started with ALLSUP last month. So far, they are doing exactly what they said they do. I got a letter from them yesterday concerning my claim. They contacted SSA and found out the status of my claim.
