MDJunction to me

jayna01"My name is Jayna and I wanted to take this opportunity to say how much MDJunction has meant to me. I always felt so alone before I joined in April of 2012. I felt like there wasn't anyone that really cared about me and what I was going through. I felt like there was no one that would truly listen to me in what I was feeling. Nobody was there for me. That is before I found MDJ!

I have found and met such good people on these forums. I never ever knew there were such compassionate people before MDJ. It's also nice to know that I can come here anytime and get support for what I am feeling. I feel like I have met some wonderful life long friends. It is also an outlet for me to try and help other people that are hurting. It gives me a good feeling inside and gives me self confidence in helping other people.

I hope MDJ will be as good for you as it has been for me! Many Blessings and Much love.

if you do work and make the $900 for 6 months you loose your ss because you CAN work....So take tha into consideration before you start something....

now, how long into the first month will you come down with the worst flare ever?

And I urge you to get a lawyer, absoluely, but be prepared befroe your first face to face meeting. Have all your answers ready and papers ready. If you do not know what papers, get a book from amazon on filing for disability and read it....they are very helpful and can prepare you for what is to come.

Hi Friends

I received my back pay from SS yesterday. Although, my letter said it could be 90 days, it was only 21 days. I was pleasantly suprised.

I am thinking I may get my first monthly check in Sep. rather than Oct. I just have to wait and see.

Please, all don't be discouraged. It took me 2 years.

Hugs

I had my hearing back in July of this year and just the letter of determination in the mail 2 days ago. DENIED again...or shall it say it like they do "UNFAVORABLE". This is the second time I have been denied. The first time I did not have a lawyer, but this past time I did and now I am waiting to hear from him as to what he think I should do before I check into allsup. I know one thing. I need to look into getting a new phsyciatrist for one, that would probably help. I will NOT miss out on filing an appeal, that is for sure, so if I don't hear from him in the next week, then I will file it on my own. And if this means I have to find a different family doctor then I will. I should try and see if I can into my mom's family doc...she was my doctor over 7 yrs ago but I had moved out of state and she would not take me unless I had a specialist when I asked about getting back into her 2 years ago. Now I have a specialist...maybe she will take me back and I can just schedule my appointments when my mom has to go. Sorry rambling.....
Blessings to you,
Sally

Hugs Sally!! So sorry you've had such a hard time getting approved.

I would check into getting other doctors and if you suffer depression, that is supposed to help your claim.

Part of my problem has been doctors, I have a lot more wrong than just Fibro but the rhummy doctor only treats it. My primary doc does the other stuff, but wants no part of disability.

I wish they could overhaul the whole system. It's hard enough to be sick, and then to have no money it just adds to it!!

Best of luck on your appeal! Don't give up....that's what they want!!

Hugs,

~Tammy~

Thank you Tammy. I will not give up. My lawyer said that one huge factor is my age. My diagnosis from the last psychiatrist said major depression. I have Lupus, fibro, herniated disc and degenerative disc disease, I go to doctors 2 to 3 times a week and they think I would be able to work or even hold down a job.... I just wish these people had to be in our shoes for just one week and see what we go through!!! This is not even all of the health probs but these one are the ones that create the problems the most in trying to work. If my lawyer decides that there is no reason to appeal it then I will appeal it myself and then I will check allsup....but I am seriously thinking about changing my family doc back to the one I had before I moved to PA and then back to Ohio. She was really good at helping my mom get the disability. So we will see I guess. Thanks again and I hope you get your soon as well
Blessings to you,
Sally

Sally

I was denied twice before getting SS (the 3rd try).

I applied first by myself and the 2nd and 3rd with lawyer.

Don't give up.

The strange thing is on the 3rd try I was found favorable....however, my health statis was the same on one, two, and three tries.

Go figure.

bits, and everyone else trying for SS

read the stuff online at the ssi site and everything else you can get your hands on....it is very complicated, but it has to do with the age of the applicant, the number of disabilities and if there is a job any where in the continental US that you can do.....even telemarketing, and stuff like that.

So if you can talk and sit for 8 hours to earn a live-able invome ,I think that's about 800 dollars now, then you get denied.

you have to have several debilitating issues, not just fibro which they seldom count, but add into it, an inability to walk or take a bus, or drive,

for instance you must not be able to lift your arms, sit or stand, walk, (perform widget work) and be unable to be trained etc.....

there are books that can walk you through the process.

do get a lawyer who only does ss...as he has to win or he doesn't get paid...have counceling so that you have records of your mindset etc...have all your specialists records etc,

NOW the unfortunate truth is that they are trying to not pass people because of the Problem with the governement spending money like mad hatters and the deficit and the economy. However when push comes to shove the money will be there, so keep trying!!!

Do not give up because every year older makes a huge difference in the bizare computations that go into deciding if you can have it or not.

3 times denied is rather common, (and mean if you ask me....)

Those of us who get it on the first time? Well I think 90% of it is luck and massive records.

My judge, (there is another name but I cannot remember-sheesh) read through everything. My previous doctor, whome I had worked for, and was a brides maid at her wedding, had written she did not believe I was disabled even though she had not seen me in three years. ( we had moved...) The judge asked me about this. I was stunned, heartbroknen, (guess who hasn't been on my Christmas list!) and you could have heard a pin drop in the room, even the creepy woman with the computer frantically searching for jobs stopped typing.

When he asked me why, I said that "Unlike you sir, she has obviously no idea nor compassion nor understanding of the system, if she is able to say such a thing....I had to stop working there because I was unable to do as much as they wanted."

None of this s fair to any of you waiting. And I am so sorry. We are all in the same pain boat. You might last 6 months, one month, a week, at a new job, but if you are disabled you will notbe able to continue, we both know that.

And we know the debilitating pain that truly is crippling.

It doesn't matter what we know- IT HAS TO BE IN YOUR RECORDS...it has to be documented.

In medicine and this includes mentle health, Physical therapy occupational therapy etc:

IF IT IS NOT DOCUMENTED IT DOES NOT EXIST

So stop being brave at the doctors, stop being stoical, COMPLAIN loudly and long.....tell them what you are REALLY GOING THROUGH....

please, contrary to what most of us do at a doctor visit COMPLAIN!!! about all your pain, type up a list of complaints and the amount of drugs you have to live etc. Most doctor's do not reoutinely absorb what is said.....hand them something.

Hand the list to the doctor, not the medical assistant who checks you in, she will file it and he or she may ever know you had list.....

you paid into the system, it is not a hand out, it is not charity, it is insurance!!!!!

hugs and prayers that your wait will not be much longer

Natalia
