MDJunction to me

"MDJunction to me is a life saver... when i first was diagnosed with Scheuermann's Disease i wrote a message to a page i found on google, hoping that they could help me.... you'd never know it but that weird feeling (you know that one where it feels like someone actually cares) came over me when i opened my email next day to find that someone on the other side of the world (at the American Medical Library)had read my message while i was sleeping, and there low and behold was the address to MDJunction.... well it is everything to me, i live it breathe it and love it!!!!! I have found many people who are struggling with similar issues banding together to help each other. It is the best place in the world, and i couldn't think of another place to go to meet so many lovely people....

thanks MDJunction

Does anyone have experience with using Lyrica for fibromyalgia (especially in a teenager)? My daughter's pediatric neurologist/sleep doctor prescribed it for her today as she has a poor sleep efficiency. Her level III sleep % was low and she had 0% level IV sleep. Both are considered deep sleep.
I am a mom who has had fibromyalgia since I was a kid. Now my daughter who is 13 has been diagnosed with juvenile fibromyalgia. I would like to talk to other parents who have a child with fibromyalgia to find out what treatment(s) they are using and ways they are coping.
I also have had insulin dependent (juvenile) diabetes since I was 12. I will have had it for 38 years now come Halloween, since I was diagnosed on that day.

I can t say anything about a teen using Lyrica but I am surprised that a dr. prescribed it for her.

I don t take Lyrica to make me sleep but for pain . When I first started taking it, I was taking one morning and one with dinner, slept fine but was still exhausted the next day.

Now my Rhuemy has me taking them both at bedtime and I have less pain and sleep great most nights (unless I have the shooting fire pain in my thighs).

Good luck to your daughter ...I wasn t aware of juvenile Fibro ....

I saw a commercial on TV for one of those big law firms (Binder and Binder, I think) that was talking about Lyrica and a possible link to suicide. I know there are several anti-depressants that are not allowed for kids under the age of 18 and I thought Lyrica was in that category as well???

I'm sure you will be keeping a close eye on how she reacts to the medication anyway but I wanted to throw this info out there. I hope she can get some relief with it! Poor baby, to be so young and be going through this. It breaks my heart! Bless you and your daughter!

The Lyrica didn't do much for me. I too was only taking it for pain and wasn't aware of the sleep benefit. It is to help the nerve firings/pain. It also played havoc on my IC and I was unable to empty fully. It is approved now for Shingles. I know because my father just had it. He heard from his doctor that they are getting great results....he didn't try it himself.

My daughter is taking Lyrica for pain and Elavil to help her sleep. Her pedi/neuro prescribed it for her also. She just started them thi week! I'm crossing my fingers!!!!! I hadnt heard about the Lyrica, but my husband listens to a radio show called Coast to Coast and they were talking about Neurontin having some serious side affects. Hes trying to get more info about it.PRETTY INTERESTING ! I read all about the side affects and watched my daughter very closely and made everyone around what to watch out for while she on these meds.
