Rayne, I love hearing about all the episodes at your place, you should write all this stuff down and get someone to make a movie about it all. Coming in late on all this, but so sorry about your fall. You are one tough cookie!!

Bobbi,

Sorry about the fall. It it literally(sp) a pain in the a** as we get older. You have gotten some good advice about the fall.

Now for the throat. Take about 4 oz of warm water and put about a tsp or a little more of reg table salt in it and stir. Gargle with it. Gargle, spit it out, gargle, spit it out, until you have used it all. Don't rinse your mouth and throat. The salt is what does the healing. It always helps mine. And yes, keep coughing. Just hold a pillow tight and your ribs shouldn't hurt too bad.

Have you ever used a netty(sp) pot to pour stuff up your nose? Or you can now get a spray bottle of saline and lean forward and spray it up you nose. It goes quite a way up there and helps the swelling. Don't sniff it in, it goes down your throat, just let it run back out.

My fil (rest in peace) used to have a cure for a cold. A shot of brandy. I remember my first time with this. We had been married about 1-2 months and I got a bad cold. We were there and he said get Debbie the brandy. I didn't drink so I had no idea what he was up to. He poured me a shot and told me to drink it. I took a sip and he said no, drink it all at once. OMG, I don't know if it killed the sore throat or just burned it so bad it decided to quit hurting on its own. But it does work too.

Get well soon and we might think about checking into buying bubble wrap in bulk for you and Stacey. LOL

Love you guys!

Gentle, gentle hugs,

Debbie

I was going to get a neti pot until I heard that after Oprah went on & on about how great they were, a lot of people bought them then got bacterial infections from not cleaning them properly. I don't have a dishwasher (besides me) in my miniature 50s kitchen, so I'm reluctant to buy one. I seem to recall seeing the modern American equivalent, a can of saline with a nozzle for going up the nose. I'll purchase one when I feel up to hobbling to my car for the trip to the drug store for epsom salts. Dang that's the last of the juice too...I wish I could sent Mort with my debit card LOL!!

I prefer my hot toddies made with bourbon...bourbon, sleepy-time tea, honey & lemon. Yum! Or I take Nyquil. Both will have to be stopped while I'm taking vicodin. Saturday as soon as I started feeling ill I made a huge pot of homemade chicken soup with tons of garlic & onions. I think I have one more serving left for tonight's dinner. At the moment in front of me I have a huge insulated cup filled with ice water with lemon, a cup of my favorite morrocan mint tea, and a glass of fresh squeezed oj that stings so good going down. I have to hobble to the bathroom about every 5 minutes.

Falling (this time) is quite literally a pain in the a**...and calf & knees and ankles and toes and one wrist and most of the fingers. I TG that my phone survived, the wallet it was in broke my fall and kept me from skinning my hand as well as my knee. I'm hoping that the unsteadiness I was feeling yesterday was due to not taking my Cymbalta for several days. (See "Fibro fog is a lot like being stoned")...

Best of all, Mort has decided he loves me again and is "making bread" on the pillow beside me and purring away Smile I'm happy he's happy >^.^<

Oh and I alternate gargling with salt water with gargling with my fluoride rinse which contains alcohol. Both seem to help a lot.

Seems like you have everything handled. Ron and I both have our own spray bottle of Saline. Yes, it has a long nozzle to go up your nose. Just remember to lean over the sink so it can drain back out.

Salt water and mouth wash should help, and lemon , and the ????, and the ?????.

Have a good evening. Just keep Morti close. He'll help.

Hugs,

Debbie

Oh Bobbi~

I just got to this and I can't believe I missed this. I am so sorry you had another fall, and on top of your cold/brochitis to boot. I wish I was there and I could go to the store and pick up the things you need, but with the shape I'm in, I might need the bubble wrap. I would go anyway cuz I love you sooo much!!! That was a great idea though about Morti. If he knew his way around town, you could just put a sweater on him, pin your list and debit card to him and put a little green/earth bag around his neck to bring it home in.

I am very worried about you, so if the pain keeps up, maybe another ER visit would be a good idea. Maybe nurse Nathan is still on duty and he could take your list and deliver your items. Just make sure you get Morti a treat so he doesn't get jealous of Nathan the delivery nurse. LOL

Hope you are feeling better and you get a good nights sleep tonight. I will keep you in my prayers.

Love you girl,

Christine

I am so sorry about all of the family. It seems like more and more people are falling here lately. I guess its the weather changed.

I just had 2 mri's done, with several other exrays. We were seeing if I had MS. Thank the good Lord it came back negative. However, I do have DDD in my back, as well as several places of arthritis onlong the spinal code. And he said he just bare saw on the edge of the exray he might have seen a pinched nerve. So, I'm in for more tests, and blood lab, and seeing that nerve a little. He told my husband, that surgery would be critical in that location. But, then my cell phone zoned out and they are closed on Fridays. So at my next visit in a couple of weeks, maybe I'll know. But the good news, is i don't have MS!! And soon we will maybe catch the culprit that has attacked me and caused so many falls. My prayers and thoughts are with each and everyone of us enjoy some of the fall weather.

Snugs,

Kathy
