Hello I am new to the group! I am excited to have people to talk to who are going through the same situations I deal with everyday. I have had fibro for about 3 years now. I have started to gain weight. My doctor says it is due to the large dose of Lyrica I am on now. Does anyone else have this problem? [img] Unsure

This is common with Lyrica which is one of the reasons that I refuse to try it. But not everyone does. i would suggest watching what you eat and definitely exercising. Not to much only as tolerated. But as I posted just a few min ago try to get some extra walking in like parking farther from the grocery store, taking the stairs instead of the elevator, stretching and water areobics. it is very important to exercise a little with fibro I believe it helps not only with weight gain but also with your mood, spirit, and overall pain. Just don't overdo it and build up gradually.

I am so happy that you joined our group. Smile It is a wonderful place to be. Everyone is very knowledgeable, diverse, supportive, and funny! You are going to love it here and we welcome you with open arms! Silly Laughing Feel free to vent, joke, cry, whine, yell, whatever you need we are open and honest and you will find allot of people we you can relate too. Take care and welcome aboard!! Laughing

Thank you so much Cori! I appreicate all you said. It means alot to me! How long have you had fibro? Do you go to a rhemotolgist? If you don't take Lyrica, what do you take if anything?

I got my fibro recently went through a traumatic time. I was diagnosed in Feb 08. I have seen the rhuemy twice. Currently i take 60mg of Cymbalta in the morning and Oxycodone for pain. I have tried a bunch of different meds and so far haven't found the perfect combo but we are getting there! I have an appt today to discuss my dosage of my pain medicine. i think that the Cymbalta has really helped me to sleep better, relax more, and not be so fatigued. Plus it takes my appetite away so I am not constantly munching!! Silly

Welcome to our family of fibromites tloomis, gald you found us. I don't take Lyrica either but from everything I have read on here the weight gain seems to be normal. Don't stress over it the stress is worse for you than the weight gain. Just eat healthy and try to relieve the pain and not stress. LOL Easy to say hard to do.

Welcome to the group. I'm not on Lyrica, but have heard that it causes weight gain.

I take 60 mg of Cymbalta in the morning too, along with the 150 mg of Lyrica 3x a day!! Also, take percocet 10/650 for pain, and a muscle relaxer at bedtime. I hope you get your pain meds straigted out today!

Welcome to the group, tloomis. I can't really say more since the others have already told you what this group is like, except to say, I agree with them.

I had to stop taking Lyrica due to the bad side effects. However, I was also concerned about the weight gain, and my doctor put me on something called Metformin, which is supposed to prevent weight gain from other meds. You might ask your doctor about it.
