Finally had my doctors appt and got him to change my meds. He wants me to go see the new Fibro specialist in Lubbock TX but since I don't have insurance, he's going to act as "liason" between the two of us and just ask the specialist for his opinion if he gets stumped on something. He changed my meds to neurontin, klonpin, and percocet for the break through pain. Everyone cross your fingers and pray that these will work for me! Tongue

Your doctor sounds very supportive. Good luck with the new meds. I try to change only one drug at a time so I can determine which one is responsible for improvements and side effects.

Thanks! I was taking elavil and ultram for years and it just didn't work. I just didn't change meds before because I don't have insurance and was just settling. I'd finally had enough and made a dr. appt. anyways and just paid full price......Sad oh well....if this helps it will be worth it! Smile

Everyone does things differently, many meds are for different things I'm sure your dr will know what's best for you and it's true when starting new meds all at once it's good to know which ones you could be reacting to. I wish you the best! Keep us updated. Smile
I suffer from Rapid Progressive MS, Lupus, Fibromyalgia, Epilepsy, Migraines, Neuropathy, IBS, Narcolepsy, Arrythmia, Arthritis and too much more complete list on profile.

I'm not currently active due to many personal and medical issues. I will not be participating in MDJ for awhile, my thoughts and prayers are with everyone. I hope everyone is well and I appreciate all of the thoughts, kind words and messages. I have tried to respond as much as possible and apologize if I have not gotten back to everyone. That sounds great Kristen! I'm glad you found a good doctor. I take 1.5 mg of klonopin a day (.5 am, 1 pm) and it helps quite a bit. I also swear by my neurontin. The percocet can cause constipation so make sure you take laxatives with it and eat a lot of fiber and drink a LOT of water. Also magnesium supplements can help both the constipation and fibro muscle pain.

So glad you found a doc who is caring and supportive!

hugs,

So, glad you have a plan! I also just started Neurontin, after trying many things that didn't work or gave me horrible side effects.

Hope everything works out great for you (and me)!

Love,

So glad to hear that you are having a positive feeling for your new PCP. am praying that the med regimen does well for you but remember while it is a very reasonable sounding regimen you may have to have him tweak one thing or another....as you go along.

some people here have had to have whole new regimens developed because the first did not work, but at least you are on your way.

I admire your PCP for being willing to liaise with the Rheummy....It certainly sounds like you got one of the good ones! Hooray!!!

gentle hugs and a peck on the cheek,
Natty

I am an RN with a current license since 1984....sheesh that's a long time....but that doesn't mean I am a DOCTOR
I dispense advice freely but you should take it with a grain of salt and do your homework and check with your doctor.
He gets paid more so he must know more. Right?

I am truly sorry your are reading my post, because it means you are here at MD Junction instead of out skydiving or deep sea treasure hunting or climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.......
