Hey everyone, I'm still struggling. I went to the Dr. he presicribed me something. Can't even remember the name of it now. It made me VERY mean. I had to get off the med it was really bad for me. I didn't take the night dose & quit taking it after that last morning dose I had. The next day I felt immediate relief of the angry feeling I had. I seriously wanted to hurt someone. I was waiting for them to mess up so I could tear them apart!!EEEKS.

Anywhoo, was wondering if anyone is on Cymbalta?I read something that said women have more luck with this med than men when it comes to being used for fibromyalgia?

My back & hips hurt so bad I can barely take it anymore. Went to chiropractor Weds & I'm going back today. Makes me feel so tired and when I'm tired I get grumpy. UGH. I feel like going to the Dr. is going to lead to another disappointment.

I take cymbalta and have for years. I love it and never knew how much it helped me until I moved and went to a new doc and he gave me new diagnoses and took me off of cymbalta. This was all done by my psychiatrist for depression. After 1 1/2 yrs of getting depressed even more and no help from the new bipolar meds/diagnosis I went to a diff doc and told him I want to go back on cymbalta and he complied. I have been back on for 2 weeks and already feeling better. All I can say is it has helped me alot and I hope it helps you too.

I'm sorry you are having so much trouble!

I took Cymbalta for probably 2 years and it did help. I had excessive sweating from it though so I eventually went off it. The same thing happened when I tried Savella -- except with that it was really extreme sweating, so much so that my pain doc wanted me to stop the Savella since she feared I might become dehydrated.

I've read posts from a lot of folks, though, who have had good luck with Cymbalta.

My NP did tell me that it wasn't surprising that I had sweating with Savella since I had it with Cymbalta. Must be the two are the same general "type" of medications.

I don't know what your "mean" med was but I will just say fyi that my daughter tried Elavil when she was in her late teens for fibro. It made her nuts and mean mean mean!

I wish you the best of luck in finding something that will help your pain!

Many hugs!

Savella was the drug that made me really mean!I guess I may get into the Dr next week & see if he will let me try something else.

Thanks!

I love Cymbalta. I do sweat a lot but I'm postmenopausal so that's probably the problem, not the Cymbalta. I only sweat if I get overheated.

I haven't tried Savella and based on what I've read about it on this site, I never will. The sweating, palpitations and other side effects I've read about are bad enough, but it also makes you mean? No thanks!! I get like that on prednisone. It makes me so aggressive and like I'm looking for a fight. I actually physically removed my 6'2", 250lb. former Marine (now) ex-bf from my house while taking prednisone. Then I cancelled his debit card & cell phone. Mean as a snake...

Yeah, that is the way I felt taking that med..Like I was looking for a fight. I was waiting for SOMEONE to mess up so I can lash out!I was paranoid & my husband was lik WHAT is your problem!!EEEKS!It was bad. I must have been very sensitive to that medication, I was only on it for maybe a week?I noticed a difference in my pain as well. And I slept thru the night with lil hip pain! But, I can't be a viscious crazy woman, jumping on the backs of strangers at Wal-mart either LOL!!

I had the mean mean crazy reaction to cymbalta. Usually when I take antidepressants I just don't give a you know what about anything. On cymbalta I just wanted a fight with anyone and I also wanted to hurt someone or myself. It was terrible. I had only been on it for a couple of weeks. Luckily my daughter realized it was the new meds. and I can totally relate to jumping the backs of strangers that irritate me anywhere. I went off it and have been a lot better. I have been on so many of them and just to not react well to them.

2 thumbs up on Cymbalta....it works great, really really helps but dont forget a dose....things can get ugly really fast......I have an extra prescription that we bought off insurance for emergencies. like when we can't get to the pharmacy until a week after I am going to fun out.

Don't every want to go through that again....it was like being dropped into the 4 level of hell or something.....,

WELCOME by the way...
