Good morning all! Well, I was feeling pretty good this morning and had alot of energy, haven't felt this good in awhile. So like a numbnut...I put some music on and was blasting it,me,my kid and husband were all dancing around the house like a bunch of maniacs!

I haven't moved like that in years, well now I'm pretty sure I overdid it cause I feel like crap =( but it sure was fun dancing around like that! haha!

Anyway how are all of you doing? I have to go to church soon so I'll read some posts when I get back. I hope your all having a pleasant day!

Jenne

I envy you that you can get out to church. So far the only things outside the house I've been able to push myself to do are the few and far between moms/babies events and my errands that I can't get out of. I just can't seem to find the energy to do more than that. Plus the more I go out, the less pain meds I can take because I won't drive on them.

I know you feel like you overdid it, but if it brought a smile to your face to dance with them, maybe your heart needed it. Hopefully you aren't hurting too badly for too long.

Jenne you know you may have over done it, but next time you will know not to gets so animated with it, tone down the movements. And you may feel awful, next time you won't feel so bad. But oh my gosh just think of the wonderful memories you have just tucked away in your kids minds and hearts. My daughters and I used to dance around the kitchen to a favorite Christmas carol. They are 28 & 29 and they still talk about it, and when all 3 of us get together we still do it. I will do it with them until I physically can't anymore. I won't get as animated as I did and I may hurt later, but I won't let it stop me.

Keep on dancin....just do it a little more gently.

Be wise and dignified like the swan: he maintains his composure, staying unruffled on the surface, while always paddling like crazy underneath.

Jenne, I agree with MaryBeth. I told myself long ago that I am going to live my life the way I see fit. I may pay for it later, but I'm still going to have fun while I'm doing it. To me, it helps keep me "alive".

Keep on dancing....just mellow it out a step or two.

Hi Jenne! I know it was nice dancing around but of all the exercising I have read about, dancing and/or walking is the worst on us fibro sufferers so I would try to stay away from it but glad you had fun with it. Didn't mean to be a downer. It is so scary when I feel good that I get up and clean up and do the most I can do before the pain hits. The reality of our life.

Whoa, back up. I thought walking was one of the very best things we could do for ourselves.

Yes Starr it is but it is a killer on the knees. The ellipitical machine I found was the best exercise since it doesn't aggravate my knees but you have to do what works for you. I'm sorry I didn't mean to suggest not to walk but my knees stay inflamed so I don't do any walking but if you walk, you should start with 5 minutes and increase gradually and I did start like that but it didn't get any better.

Ahhh...see I don't have knee problems. I do have motivational problems though.

I used to be able to dance. I had six years of professional dance training for gejeesus sakes. Ballet was always my favorite because it worked every muscle in the body, slowly and gracefully. And the stretches were so good.

I want to walk. I want to workout. I want my body to be stronger. But I can't seem to carve out the time in my days to do it. Everything else seems to take priority, and that bums me out sometimes.

I haven't worked out in so long. I have a treadmill, a total gym and a good set of weights staring me in the face in my office. And somewhere I have an exercise ball, resistance bands, a jumprope, wrist weights, ankle weights, a Pilates ring, and coutless books, videos and DVDs. I have them all with good intentions, but no motivation.

You say start with five minutes, and you're right. Seeing it in print makes it seem so easy. Five minutes...no big deal. Why can't I do it???

One of the things I had to learn with Fibro (after I finally accepted that I do have it) was that I have limitations and I have to figure them out and also learn when to say ""no"".

*whew* that was a long sentence ...sorry ....lol

FibroMom, my Rhuemy told me to buy an elliptical machine(especially for this winter). Gives the body the best complete workout without aggravating knees, etc.

I would like to walk more (I enjoy nice walks) but I m on my feet 8 hours a day at work and that is that last thing I want to do when I get home.

I had a treadmill a few years ago when I worked and before I got fibro. Got it home, used it a few times and my chriopractor told me not to use it anymore cause it was aggravating my back (lower back traumatic scoliosis). I didn't listen to him. Then I quit using it because both my husband and stepson found jobs. We went to work in shifts. Mine was 8 to 5, Stepson was 3 to 11 and my hubby was midnight to 8. When I came home and wanted to use the treadmill, I couldn't cause it was too loud. So I blew the dust off of it and sold it at our yard sale. It never really fit in our house. I had it set up in the kitchen. My knees don't hurt, it's my feet with the arthritis. I love to walk too. I used to walk everywhere when I worked in Washington DC.
May your troubles be less, Your blessings be more. And nothing but happiness come through your door!
