Well, I wasn't quite as energetic or motivated as yesterday, but still better than most days. That is, until........Sad

I'll spare you all the gory details. Just say it was a very embarrassing IBS-related moment at rehearsal tonight. Needless to say, I was mortified.

My gastro can't find me a happy medium. Either I don't go for days or....Blush

Then he leaves it up to me. "Play around with meds and dosages till you find what works".

Oh, okay....thanks, doc......and I pay you for this?

Sorry, had to vent that one out.

I completely understand. I had IBS issues so bad in my 20s that I was out of work for it twice. Luckily it has not come back with a vengeance once I got fibro. But I do have days when attacks come without warning. It's so hard to be "prepared" when you don't know when it's coming. One thing I did that worked for me when I got to the point that I was afraid to leave the house if my stomach might get in the way...I carried (and actually still do) Immodium with me in my purse. If I had to leave the house and it was possible I would have a "problem" I actually took it as a preventative measure. Many times it worked.

I'm sorry that you had a rough time. Of all this medical issues to deal with, I find that IBS is one of the worst to get support with. I mean, who wants to try to "explain" to family and friends just what's going on with it? NOt exactly dinner table discussion, is it?

Good luck with tomorrow!!

I totally understand and have been having so much trouble with mine since going off the previous meds that I never know whether to leave the bathroom lots of times. Immodium doesn't work and since i'm in a transition mode with moving and getting new docs, am without anything else to take. I thought the lyrica was helping a lot at first but now it's not as effective... or maybe it was just my body giving me a short break... who knows...

I do hope you find relief!

I can relate Starr. Ive had IBS for as long as i can remember but once i was diagnosed with Fibro it seems to be playing me up more than ever. I do the same as Jeerie, ive always got a 'preventative' of some sort in my bag lol Before i leave the house i have to run through my check list. Keys? check, phone? check, pain pills? check, IBS pills? check lol the list gets bigger everyday!!
"When things go wrong and they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit
Rest if you must, but dont you quit.

Success is failure turned inside out,
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you can never tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems afar.
So, stick to the fight when you're hardest hit,
Its when things go wrong when you mustn't quit"

I'm sorry Starr, I got diagnosed with IBS when I was 13, I used to have to take Citrucel for it, it seems to have gotten alot better but then..every once in awhile.....BAM...it comes out of nowhere like a stealth bomb...then I feel like I should just bring my phone ,computer, cigarettes and everything else I need for the day into the bathroom cause that's where I am for the next 5 hours or so. I hope you feel better soon.

I'm sorry to say this, but thank God there are others who understand and go through the same things.

Immodium, huh? How quickly does it work?

Thank you, thank you, thank you for being there when I needed someone to understand....all of you.

Some days it works rather well for me...both as preventative and you know, "after." Other days I can be so sick it's like luck of the draw. I did see someone post here that it doesn't help her. The way I see it, if it works some of the time for you,it's better to have a flimsy plan than no plan at all. Blink

It was me that said it didn't work for me but must clarify that... it doesn't on many days. I do want to try the new imodium though, sounds as if it has many more benefits than the regular one and any backup plan is better than none, that's for sure. I wish they would regulate the stronger types for otc like they have for zantac and stuff.

Starr have you tried that yogurt that Jamie Lee CUrtis pitches on TV?

The other thing that is good for IBS is healthfood Asodophillus.

My sister uses that and loves it.

It keeps a balance between the good and bad bacteria in your intestines.
