MDJunction to me

Macv"For me, MDjunction has been a place where I can share my experiences
living with the very rare bone disease called Ollier's ( Enchondromatosis ) with the parents of children recently diagnosed. I can help them not to run
into the pitfalls my parents did when I was young, give them a bit of a view
from their child's perspective and simply be there to offer support and
hope to people who are scared and just had their lives upended. I also belong to a chronic pain group and it's been a Godsend to be able to actually
talk with others who understand what I'm dealing with. Besides them helping me through my tough times, I can be there to help them as well. Here too, I can use my years of experience to help others avoid pitfalls and it makes me feel good, gives my life more purpose. MDjunction brings people
together when their suffering, at their darkest and feeling alone in this world and allows some light to be brought back into their lives. HOPE, that's what
MDjunction means to me!

I finally decided to try water therapy and I have to say, the water felt great. It was so warm and felt great on my sore muscles. But.... we moved around in a circle so much, that I left there feeling nauseous. Does anyone else get nauseous very easily, especially if you go in a circle, even if it is in the pool or walking on a small track??

Oh my gosh yes. I was telling the chiropractor today that I was nauseous. I get that way when I turn around in the shower with my eyes closed. I get so dizzy and sick there are some days I just don't want to take a shower.

the doc said she hadn't really heard of any of her fibro patients complaining of it before.

Thank you so much for proving that I am not nuts

That happens to me frequently...or during a hot bath.

Actually, I saw a posting somewhere on the web (related to FMS) that I couldn't access because I wasn't a member that talked about a topic of, "does anyone else ever have a feeling of motion?" The reason I was trying to access it was because I have recently started having these wierd feelings of "motion" while in motion...kind of like being on a people mover -- you know how you are walking along at a good pace and then all of a sudden you are going warp speed?!?! Well I would feel like that driving on the road, or as someone else mentioned, turning around in the shower, or just walking from one room to the next. I don't really know how to explain it, but it's definitely not a normal thing for me.

Oh - and speaking of the hot bath, that is the one thing my doctor has suggested so far in my short treatment plan (I've only been diagnosed for two months now), is to take very hot baths (@ 105 degrees), and those make me so nauseas and light-headed. He said that is completely normal because all of the blood is rushing to your head, but you have to stick it out because it's the best thing for us (the hot bath, that is)!

Just thought I would add my two cents for whatever it's worth. :-/ Dena (a.k.a., Broke Back -on the Mend- in Florida)

Dena, thanks for that! I thought the feeling was just vertigo at first until I started "feeling weird" in other places. Like sitting on the couch or on the floor playing with my puppy.

One thing i've noticed is that my puppy (Morganna, a 4 mos old solid black great dane) knows when I am not feeling well. She knows if i am feeling dizzy or faint and starts to lean on me to like hold me up. She follows me around on my "bad" days like she is saying she'll be there if something happens. She wanted to join me for my hot bath today (crazy dog). It's good to know that this Moose will hold me up when I am not at my best.

i am really glad I found you guys! I thought I was going to lose my mind as my symptoms are strange ones that I thought that I was going insane when they happened thinking I was just 'freaking out'.

Thank you my fellow fibromytes...you are a true blessing in my life now! Ana

I'm glad I found this forum, too (I'm also a newbie)...and I can't tell you what it has already done for me. I know now that I'm not alone in this!

And off-topic for one second - OMG!!!!!! - I LOVE Great Danes!!!! I don't have one, but I wish I did! And that's about the sweetest story ever about her taking care of you! Dogs truly are a man's (and woman's) best friend. I love animals.

Back on topic - Wishing everyone a great pain free day tomorrow!! ~Dena

I do water therapy and "absolutely love it". Smile

What kind of water therapy are you doing? I am in a Senior Water Aerobics class. I'm not a senior, but my rheumy told me that this is the class to be in because of the low-impact. I often leave giggling because most of those seniors can do twice as much as I can. But anyway, we don't do anything in circles. I mean, we'll stand in one place and circle our ankles or legs or something, but that's the extent of that.

We also have arthritis water classes for different levels.

Anyway, if you are having one-on-one therapy, I would mention to the person that you're experiencing this feeling. See if there's something else to do, instead of the circles. Or, see about a different class.

Our water is 92 degrees. How warm is yours?

I often sit in the hot tub afterwards. I can only be in there for about 3-5 minutes though, due to my blood pressure and the dizzy feeling.

I am not sure of the temperature of the water, but it is really warm!! I am going to try to go again tonight, but not go in the circles and see if that helps.

Let us know how you get along. I really hope it helps you. Our instructor is awesome.... always tells us at the beginning of every class to just do what "we" can do, not to pay attention to the people around us. (We do a lot of talking in our class too. That helps make if a little more fun. Tongue )

I'll be anxious to hear how things go this time. Good luck!

I also take water classes and mine sound exactly like Amy's classes. Although I came home from class on Monday night and I was feeling quite nauseated. Later that evening I had numbness in my right arm and I thought I wonder if I did something in class that caused this cause I always have tightness around my neck and shoulders. Later I had chest pain that woke me up but I still shrugged it off thinking it had to do with my fibro cause I've had costochondrotis three times before an went to the ER once for it. At 6:00 am as I got up to go to work I felt worse so I told my hubby to take me to the ER. Once I got there they did an EKG and bloodwork which both came back fine but the dr. thought it still could be heart related so gave me a nitroglycerine tab and a little morphine for the pain. The chest pain subsided some and they gave me some aspirin and another nitro tab and decided to admit me for observation because my mother has had 2 heart attacks. My family dr. was out of town so his replacement thought it was due to my fibro but the heart center dr. (not my normal one either) thought it was due to my neurally mediated syncope issues so she said she would get a stress test and ultra sound done and if it came back negative I could go home. I felt faint while doing that but they said the test was negative and sent me home. They really don't know the cause of this but to follow up with all my drs. Has anyone else had these instances?
