My doc gave me a starter sample pak for the Savella but he could not answer to whether or not it was ok to keep taking my anti depressant Wellbutrin and my pain med Lortab. Any one have any info or experience with Savella, i.e., side effects? Is it true it suppresses appetite or just make you sick to your stomach so you can't eat? any info would be appreciated.....Laura

Golly Lauracat, I just can't imaging a dr. giving out rx's and doesn't even know if it will interact with your other meds. That's just ludicrous, not to mention dangerous. Best thing to do in my opinion is, first, call your pharmasist and ask. They should know anything like that. Second, find a new dr.

Wish I could help you on the main question, but I just don't know from my own experience. Have never been prescribed that combination. Took Wellbutrin yrs. ago, and didn't sleep for 3 days straight, so dumped it.

Someone else will be sure to have info on the Savella and the weight loss issue so check in later. Hope you have a low/no pain day, and good to see you! Smile

Shoot for the moon...if you miss it, reach out and grab a star.

I find that very odd your doc didnt give you an answer,I myself do not take saville but have similar(same make up)and take pain meds and depressionmeds I would ask your pharmacy though they can give you the best answer, though some here might take them together you might have other conditions they dont
we all have alot to give if one gets the help then some of this suffering is worth it..

remeber I am not a doctor I just say what I think

Hi Lauracat - I have been on Savella since the first of May and now I'm up to 50 mg 2x a day. As for the side effects the ones I have had is - Head achs, constipation, and nausea. I make sure I eat a good meal before taking it, that seems to help.

I think it does supress my appetite some, altho have not lost any weight, I finally got through the worst of the side effects and now I just started Lyrica taking the same dosage as the Savella and now the side effects are mostly the same so here I go again uggh,

I hope you find that the Savella helps you but as everyone said Please call and a Pharmacy and ask about taking your other meds with the Savella. Hope you have a great LOW pain day.

(((Hugs)))

Hi Laura,

I would surely not know what to think of a dr. treating patients that can t tell you whether or not one med will interact with another. (He/she shouldn t be practicing medicine in such a case or at the very least, he/she should have consulted to find out for you.)

I have never even considered taking Savella due to the controversy I hear/read concerning it. I DO, however, take Lyrica (3+ years now) and it continues to work well for me.

I sincerely hope you (soon) find the right med (or combination thereof) to help you endure the pain of Fibro .

Marilyn

I think you need a new physician. Any phys that would give you a drug and not answer your questions....how lazy is this doc!!! All he/she has to do is look it up in the PDR or go on line. Physicians have many resources at their disposal!!! This is one lazy person.....I'd never go back!!! What else is this physician being lazy about???

I wouldn't trust anything they said from here on out!!!!

thanks for all the great advice! i am looking for another doctor as I am finally fed up! And for now I have decided NOT to try the Savella! From what I have read the side effects are many and some linger on even after the medication is stopped....

Ive been on Savella for 6 weeks now and it was working fine on each level of dosage in the titration pack, no side effects for me either amazingly, but seems everytime I reach a level dose in my system for two weeks I seem to feel my FMS symptoms begin again as if I wasnt taking the medication at all.

Im not on any other meds. I do take a multivitamin. My primary care doctor didnt like lyrica but Im seeing a Rheumy (Tests revealed RA) so I wonder if I should inquire about it since Im feeling as though the Savella might just fade away for good at the highest level allowed when I reach it?

(I was on Cymbalta at one point after my dad passed and I lost a job I really liked same year) I was taken off that 6 months ago.) I never had to take any long term medications prior to 2007. I did take meds for pain when injured or having surgery, etc. & birth control pills up to age 35. But thats it. I'm 45 and used to a few surgeries but not life long medication. Any insight would help.

P.S. I do office work 9-5 but Ive started a disability application since it takes quite awhile to process, I could barely move 2 months ago when this all started before the meds got me mobile, plus my mother was crippled with RA - I tested positive for, and in a wheel chair when she was age 36, ten years younger then I am right now. So Im a tad worried.
