This morning I went into the internist and he said that he won't bring me on as a new patient and refunded my money. Has that ever happened to anyone? The full story is on my post below in Need Advice Please.

I've had Dr's tell me up front when I called for an appointment that they weren't taking on any new patients but I've never been treated by one and then told that he wasn't taking on new patients. That sounds wierd to me.

Anyhow, I'm sorry you were treated that way. Maybe the next Dr you see will treat you with kindness and work with you thru your pains.

Yes, my family doctor told me he will not treat me since I am seeing a doctor for Firbo and on some meds. he said if I want to go off the meds he will treat me , he won't even treat me for cold or anything, and the thing is I'm not even on any meds that are "hard" nothing like I was a few years ago from my other family doctor.

Oh and I heard another lady at the firbo doctor last month telling someone the same thing so we were talking about it.

Oh and before I forget I called my reg doctor and asked for a referral to a Rheumy every one I called said they needed a referral so we will see. The nurse said that I would probably need to be seen and that figures he needs to see me just to get my $25 to confirm the same thing we are going to talk about on the phone. Either way as you can tell I am pretty upset with doctors at this moment. I also called a Rheumy that said that they diagnose and treat Fibro. I called one that said they only see you once and then you go back to the referring doctor have no clue on that one though.

I'm an Advocate

I have never been rejected by a dr. but I DID (over 10 years ago) see a Neurologist that told me if I went to a Chiropractor, not to come back ...he would not continue to treat me.

When I told my PCP this, (maybe a month later), he said I didn t have to worry about the Neuro as he was no longer associated with our local hospital and I would have to find a new Neuro anyway . (Hmmmmm....wonder what happened there ? I still haven t been able to find out !!! ) But, I never needed him again anyway so no loss there ....

However, I have never been to a dr. that refunded my $$$ either ...That is quite odd in itself !!!

Anyway ... I hope you re having a good day today ...

When I was going through my worker's comp case my lawyer told me I should go see a different doctor and get a second opinion. After about 10 minutes the doctor said, "I don't like writing reports and it sounds like you would require lots of them, so stick with your first doctor" and walked out. I was dumbstruck because I hadn't even mentioned the workers comp, just said I was there for a second opinion.

I think fibro scares a lot of doctors because we defy their godliness...they can't make us well so they we frustrate them. Also, we're bound to be time consuming and since the official AMA-recognized dx has only existed since 2006, they have to read a lot to keep up on the latest theories, studies, medications, etc. Try not to take it personally. He's got a serious communication problem and it's HIS problem, not yours.
