Adewyn, sorry you aren't getting any answers. It's good for us to have validation. When the doctor was talking about depression, I don't think they were talking about actual depression. There are other disorders, somatiform disorders, that cause real physical symptoms for which no known cause can be found. These disorders do not suggest that we make up the symptoms or imagine them, they are real. If you would like more information on these disorders let me know. It's something to keep and open mind about. With all the research pointing to fibro being a brain based disease, perhaps there are psychiatric treatments that could help alter our disease process.
I am not a doctor. Please consult with your doctor before following any advice given by myself or anyone else on this or any other forum.

Well I'm glad you're getting a second opinion. It sounds like she is not communicating well with you or maybe just not taking you seriously. So maybe this is a blessing in disguise, and you will find someone who is a better fit for you.
I'm not a doctor, but I play one on TV.

Dear Adewyn,

Am so sorry u must go thru all of this just to find out what's wrong and for her to suggest it is Depression is ridiculous!!! It sounds as getting a second or even 3rd opinion is warranted. I know it is frustrating for you and hubby but hang in there as there is light at the end of the tunnel!!!

Paralysis is never norm and she should of said the test were all negative but we need to further search for the problem....My body did that when I was 25 and I ended up having 1 major stroke and 5 mini strokes, so never, ever give up on this, we and we alone know what's right and wrong with our bodies and the dr's should be there listening to us and assisting in anyway possible....Hope that they will soon find out what is causing all your problems and that the next one will be the one to read over all the results and say that they should of looked a little closer as it's right here in this result!!!1

Prayers, gentle loving hugs, and blessings to you and your family!!

Debi

Adewyn, Heart goes out to you massively right now. Must be very frustrating as well as scary to be in limbo like this yet to have the doctors be so flippant with you at the same time!! Would definitely see another doctor or specialist or both for a second opinion.

You are here on this planet to be treated with the upmost respect as this is what you deserve so if anyone does not respect you then You must stand up to them alongside you support network( hubby, family, friends...) too! Yet, whatever you do never ever give up on hope or on life.

If the second opinion is that the tests are all negative then maybe you still have fibromyalgia yet severely affected. Have had many MS symptoms with fibro so have been tested yet tests were negative.

Fibromyalgia can be highly complex plus affects every individual in a different way.

Try to focus on all that you can do plus get help with all that needs to be done.

Just because you are severely challenged now does not mean it will always be like this either. Never lose sight of hope .

Truly believe that positive thinking as well as humour/humor can alleviate some of the challenges plus symptoms of fibromyalgia. Take it in high doses myself- sure helps yet know it can help everyone as well.

Not easy to be positive or to even want to laugh when much challenged yet this is exactly when you need it the very most for your overall wellbeing. There is much scientific research into the health benefits of both positive thinking and humour for all health conditions/diseases.

Norman Cousins is my particular hero for using humour as medicine. He healed himself of a rare condition by using the power of laughter and the mind and vitamin C all three combined.

All negatives can be flipped around into a positive even negative results. Every day there are at least 5 reasons to be grateful!

Understand you are trying to make sense of this all right now so take your time to get your head around it. Urge you to get a second opinion, too.

Yet, whatever you do - do not lose sight of hope. Hold on tightly. Lean on us all here.

Try to be your very best friend right now, too!

Think about taking some humour therapy, also.

Will be keeping you very much in my thoughts and prayers right now.

Gentle hugs, Love Clarita the bat girlSilly

I'm an Advocate

Adewyn,

What can I say ? It is horrible when we (the patient) have to be our own best advocate when it comes to our health.

I will never understand drs. when they don t listen to our symptoms and how we are feeling.

I think you were treated horribly and totally disagree with the dx that you are depressed (you are one of the most up-beat people I know living with everyday pain and suffering) etc.

I can fully understand why you (and hubby) were very upset at the appt. You both went in there feeling that you would come out with a dx and instead you were pretty much accused of being a hypochondriac.

I am so sorry, hon, that, still, nothing is solved so that you can begin a proper treatment.

You remain solidly in my daily prayers ~~~

Good Morning Adewyn

Are you feeling any better? Read your email to the doc....well done, You are such a dear sweet soul, and surely your doc must see this....

I know we do not need to urge you to continue your search for answers, buit do, and you will find the answer, I know you will, not all docs feel threatened by a patient knowing nearly as much as they do....some docs welcome it....

because in the end, healing is a collaborative affair.

Keep us posted darling friend.

Love

natty

gentle hugs and a peck on the cheek,

Adewyn,

I'm so sorry you are going through all this. How incredibly frustrating to be told by a doctor that your entire side is paralyzed because you are depressed! Seriously?????? Why is that we, as patients, all know you can have an illness -- particularly an autoimmune illness like MS -- before, yes before, the "tests" show positive results? How many times have we all heard of people who have had this happen? I'm so incredibly sorry you are having to deal with this. Next this stupid doc will probably try to tell you your symptoms are due to stress. Geez Louise! If I lived near enough to you, I'd go with you to your doc appointment and smack her around for you. (or at least I'd try to sound really mean!) Angry Angry Angry

You'll be in my thoughts and prayers!

Hugs and more hugs!

thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.. only time will tell...My husband wants me to cut back on work 40 hours to 20-50 hours.. I looked at hi with 10 heads.. and thiught to my self what the hell would I do with all that free time lol...

I havent talked to him about it but I was thinking maybe i could cut back to 32 and have 3 days off...but he was very serioius about me cutting back... I have to ask him though if I do that will we be able to still have me join the place with the indoor pool to swim in... and our 2 car payments we now have... if that is the case then I might consider it and start swimming and taking naps and doing more of the chores like laundry and food shopping ( which I know he will not allow me to do lol but I can at least ask lol...)

Ah well alot to think about...I still think if she diagnosis me with MS and put my on a treatment there would be an improvement.. just need to stop this left side thing from becomeing permenent... and that is when the doctor will say OH you really do have MS.. Fantasic and you cant do anything anymore in your life.. WOOHOO... I hope she reads it and gets back to me via email or phone either would be fine... but as you all know I dont lay down and take no for answer or the you are depressed answer...I will let you all know when I hear back from her...and I will wait for tuesday to knw the results of the spinal and the blood work ...

Hope you all are having a low pain day today... hugs and thnak you again.. Love you all

I sooooo understand you and where u r! When docs can't find a solution, well then it must be psychosomatic - depression. That is the catch all diagnosis, when they can't find one. I wonder what docs provide the diagnosis and treatment plans for House MD, I wanna go to the doc behind all of that!
