I'm not sure if I should have a graduation party. I'm not going to walk across the stage and graduate with my 2010 senior class. I have no friends from my senior class either, so none of them would even be invited. The only people that would even want to come are all family members, and most of them think I'm a total freak.

I don't like parties in general. There are too many people, and I'd get sick of socializing with all of them very quickly, and that's on a good day. I've never found them very fun and they're too exhausting. If someone wants to send a congratulation gift they can just UPS it to my address. I won't care.

It just seems like a good idea to not make graduation a big deal. All it will do is drain me and put me in a flare the next day if I do.

I am sorry to hear that you are so down re: graduating high school.

This should be a very happy and joyous time in your life.

Why will you not be walking across the stage to recieve your diploma ? Surely that bit of walking wouldn t cause a flare ???

As for a party, I would say that is your decision but wouldn t your parents want to celebrate your achievements ?

Why dont you do something just for you? Instead of having a party that you wouldn't want to go to anyway you go and get your hair done and shopping for new clothing, Graduate going to college clothing, and new grown up makeup too, maybe even get yourt make up done by a professional so that hyou can learn the new products and the new styles? Or if you aren't into that but you are into books Splurge at Amazon, maybe get a Kindle and load her up with your favorite authors.

My point is, do something for yourself....Something that would be meaningful just for you.

I do not blame you one bit for noty weanting to go to graduation. Its usually kind of tawdry with whistle and cat calls and stuff like that....always loud and if you aren't popular then there is only your parents clapping. I did not go to mine and never regretted it. I played in the orchestra the three years before and saw what went on.

So if you don't want to go then don't go. and if you don't have anyone you want to invite to a party that you don't want to go to anyway then don't have the party....Use the money for something you would like.

That would be my vote.

But the key is will you be feeling sorry for yourself the day of graduation? Because then you can't win.

You have to come to a resolution and be happy with your decisions whichever way they go.

I pray you come to a resolution that will make you happy.

hugs

It's a school attendance policy. Since February I haven't been able to attend school, so I'm ineligible because my fibro won't let me go on a regular basis. I suppose I could argue with the school but I don't see the point. The graduation ceremony I wasn't really looking forward to anyway... it seems way too hectic for me to handle. My parents would be the only ones clapping because they're the only people who remember me... I don't know whether to laugh or cry at that. Sad

I'm sure there will be relatives insisting on me having a graduation party, but I just know, being friendless like I am now, the experience wouldn't be pleasant. Only relatives and adults my parents know would come, nobody my age, and I'd be defending my fibro in front of those who aren't relatives. I'm just better off graduating invisibly and putting the disaster that was the grade school years behind me, but I don't know if I'll be able to.

Maybe I'll save the graduation money and put it in a CD along with all the other money I've gotten over past birthdays and Christmases. I don't want to spend it elsewhere.

Hi Seventeen.

First of all, I want to congratulate you for accomplishing this great fete of your high school graduation. You are awesome. Secondly, why not have your own graduation party and put it online to your group and your family. Ask Roy, the administrator if there is something you can do to add this to your profile.

Take care of yourself. You are one supreme being. I don't know you, but I bet you have a kind heart and a sweet spirt.

Seventeen you should have or do whatever feels like a celebration to you. You have accomplished what others might think impossible all on your own, slapped Fibro in the face and said NO!! you will not steal MY life. So honey yes you deserve a celebration, Iagree with and love Keinanis' and Natalias' suggestions. If you choose to post a party here I want to come I love parties with my friends (not strangers though). Whatever you decide to dear remember we are all here for you and love and support you.
