I did it again...I got up, made coffee, sat down with a lowfat muffin & my coffee. Halfway through this breakfast, I reached for my organizer and took my morning meds. As I finished swallowing them I realized they were a little chalky and there was no green Cymbalta in the mix...so I put my reading glasses on and checked out the organizer.

Once again I managed to take my nighttime meds with breakfast.

So I took a whole klonopin, 9mg of melatonin & an allergy pill at 11 am. I added the Cymbalta that I'm supposed to take in the mornings and my BP meds.

Now I want to close my eyes and go back to sleep, wasting this beautiful mostly sunny day...I feel like an idiot....gotta remember to wear the glasses when taking the meds. It's so weird being farsighted....

Awww honey, I know the kind of organizer you mean and it is a very easy mistake to make.....you could try using finger nail polish to mart the night ones or morning ones more prominently?

I understand, but you are not an idiot. Before I started using an organizer it was a total crapshoot as to what I'd taken each day. I too occasionally take my night meds in the am and vice versa. I also forget to refill, etc. But we have so many meds to keep track of, we have to allow for some mistakes. It's just that a mistake with meds is a little more physically than forgetting to take the trash out. Spring is just starting, so there will be many more sunny days to enjoy.

They have this new pill-bottle out that tells you the last time you opened it. That would be good for breakthrough meds that aren't taken on a schedule. I know there are many time I'm confused about when I last took them, any little bit helps.

Again, I have read many of your posts- they are intelligent and thoughtful, not the work of an "idiot". Thank you for your knowledge and compassion. Laughing

Peace and Love

OK, I'm not an idiot, I'm just not used to needing to put glasses on to see things...I was blind as a bat until I had my cataract surgery and my doc erred on the side of overcorrecting my vision so I wound up pretty darn nearsighted.

The bad thing is the organizer IS color coded but I can never remember which color is for which time of day ... which is my little learning disability...I never can remember things like that or my right from my left (without checking which side has the writer's bump) or if my blood type is O+ or 0-...which of my twin nephews is in the Marines or which is in college. Mildly dyslexic but lucky that's the extent of my disability. Smile

And now barely able to keep my eyes open...didn't think melatonin would have such an effect in the daytime in a brightly sun-lit room LOL....I think I'll find the cat and go back to bed ....

It happens Rayne and you're certainly not an idiot. Get yourself some markers and rearrange the color coding. Make the AM meds bright yellow or orange like the sun, and the PM ones dark blue or black like night time.

Naddy is that you??...Where's your best hooved friend? Love the new picture, you look so official and executive like! But beautiful just the same!

I do it all the time Bobbie, with my med box, its pathetic, but true.

I also have to tell my honey when I take pain meds so I dont over do....I used to write it down but then I couldn't find it...I always put the notebooks away so I wont loose them..... I dont quite know how we do it....the house is clean, the nurse in me does that, but we can never find anything....its that Oregon vortex thing that goes on down here, I think......

I would recommend having a separate organizer for your night time meds and keep it on your night stand. Keep the day time meds on the kitchen table or counter. That way you have to make an extra effort to take the wrong ones. Smile Learned this from experience.
I am not a doctor. Please consult with your doctor before following any advice given by myself or anyone else on this or any other forum.
