Ok I have a question. I go to a Pain Management Dr. that my Family Doc sent me to due to back pain. Well she put me on Cymbalta and the Lyrica. Well i am still in pain in my neck and shoulders and upper back and sometimes it's bad enough to completely stop me. Well I called to tell them how bad the pain still was and this is what I heard.

Dr. - - does not prescribe pain medicine she doesn't believe that it helps for Fibromyalgia. So what I a wondering is why she is a PAIN MANAGEMENT doctor if she can't manage my pain. I know that some does help because a family member gave me a hydrocodone the other day and it helped a lot. The lyrcia helps a great deal but it would be VERY helpful to have something more than regular Tylenol that helps NONE for the bad days I have. She said what will help you is stretches and exercise. If I hear anymore about exercise I am going to scream! I am already in Physical Therapy and do stretches at home already and I know exercise can always help I don't have anything against that but I AM STILL IN PAIN! AHHHHHH

Sorry for my rant I just feel like no one can help me! I can't get into a new internist until October if he would help any. I just don't know what to do just tired of being in pain that's all. Even typing right now is hurting my shoulder.

Kristi

My pain management doc grabbed my hand, talked to me as if I was crazy, told me to see a shrink increased my cymbalta to 120mg and told me to quit taking all my other meds because I didn't have fibromyalgia but instead some complex depressive disorder...WTF? I have had better luck with my PCP than any dang specialist...so do what you gotta do, that was just my pain management horror story.

I hope you feel better soon, and that your pain starts to lessen! Best of luck!

THIS is not all in my head, and NO I am not crazy!

I know how you feel. I stay in pain I take 400mg lyrica and 60mg Cymbalta and I still have pain. Last my arms hurt so bad I didn't feel like feeding myself. My daughter cook and wanted to know why I hadn't eat my dinner I told her and my daughter said she would feed me she started to but my son asked if he could. I can not even describe the feeling I had at that moment my 4 yr old son feedin me. My 10 yr old daughter cooking dinner. I watched her but still I couldn't stand there and do it myself. Someone suggested a pain clinic but I don't know anything about them. But that's my problem I rambling on I need to get back on subject. Maybe you could ask your regular dr for pain meds. They may give you something.

I tell my family I deal with the pain as Mind over Matter. I picture a comforting place in my mind. My picture is of a lighthouse on the ocean shore. I try to see the light watch it as it turns. Then I try to smell the ocean air, and watch the sea gulls fly. Sometimes this works sometimes it don't. It's a technic I learned years ago. I have had to deal with pain since I was 12. But days like today I go looking for pain advise because the pain is more then I can handle and nothing is working. Well I hope you feel better or at least eased some.

Lots of hugs Cindy

Doctors are regulated very strictly when it comes to pain med. That said, it is horrible that the pain specialist won't give you anything for the pain. I went to a fibro pain specialist and she was horrible. My PCP is WONDERFUL!!! He is prescribing the pain med for me right now. I take vicodin, which a low level narcotic. He did tell me however that if I need to have something stronger, I would need to go to a specialist. I'll find someone else. It's hard to find someone who will help. Hope you are feeling better!!

Gentle hugs. Debi

lyrica is for pain right?so yes he does perscribe pain meds,I dont understand doctors,I agree with the ladies if you can get your family doc to perscibe something or even if needed go to the hospital or clinic

and I would go to a diffrent doc when you can in Oct.

mama2 I use relaxation technics similar to you but its alot of breathing in and out threw the belly, holding yiour breath and tensing like your shoulders holding then releasing with the breath it helps some days and not others.

You all gave me wonderful ideas and I am going to try them for sure. Mama2 your message really hit close to home and I teared up reading your message. It sounds like you have wonderful children.

I ended up going to the hospital tonight because I have been in so much pain and I at least got 16 WHOOPEE Hydro's but at least it's more than 0 right LOL. I can't wait to go to the internist in October then I am going to tell my PCP and Pain Dr to take a hike! Sometimes I wonder if Doctors really understand how much their decisions effect our daily life and family. I am going to work on relaxation ideas that you all told me about and osme stretches that i can do everyday to help and the ice or heat that I need. I am going to talk to the PT tomorrow at therapy about somethings as well.

Again Thanks

Kristi
