MDJunction to me

peasha"This has been one of the most supportive places I have ever been. I found MDJ by mistaking looking for drs to help me with my many health issues and since that day over a year ago I have found a tight nit little family that keeps me going when the times are tough and offers me a place of retreat to share my successes and failures with others. I get to see the humor and seriousness of what I experience as well as the resources to learn about my health conditions. Thanks MDJ" (peasha)

My left upper eyelid has been twitching for a couple months and is driving me crazy! It does not do it costantly, but I'd say every 10 or 15 minutes it does it for a couple minutes! When it does it, it kind of feels like there is something in it where it's twitching.

Has anyone experineced this?

I wonder if it's one of my medications: Plaquenil, Neurontin, lisinopril, wellbutrin, lamictal, cymbalta, claritin D. (Recently antibiotics for strep throat and Antiviral for shingles).

Any advice would be appreciated.

Ohh! that bothers me as well. doesn't happen to me very much but it is annoying.

I think its possible that it could be one of your meds but could also be something else medical. Defininatly something to ask the doctor about since its happening so often.

mine is only once in a blue moon or when im really stressed.

good luck!

I used to get that all the time and my doctor said it was a sign of exhaustion...but I WAS taking Wellbutrin at that time. Don't know if it's a coincidence or not, but I'm on Cymbalta now and my eyelids don't twitch.

I get eyelid twitching, too. Its usually when I'm completey exhausted or overly stressed. It generally comes with one side of my face, neck and matching side arm twitching and spasming.

Muscle relaxers generally help at least take the edge off of the discomfort but the annoying twitches stick around for a while.

I know that some folks use anxiety medication for this and do get some relief. I don't use them as they tend to turn me into a zombie

Thanks for the advice.

The funny thing is, that I lead a very stress free life and get plenty of sleep! I have learned over the past 4 years that I have to do this! Even though I still get sick a lot it's a lot better than it was. But they say shingles is usually brought on by stress and I just got over those, so who knows. I try not to look at every symptom I have as serious, but the twitching is just annoying. I think I go to the Dr in a few weeks, so I will ask then.

I get frustrated that every week another new illness or symptom crops up! I think most of us are in this boat, so I don't feel alone.

lol its all I can offer. I've also found that meditation and guided imagery helps with getting the twitching under some control.

It can be hard to deal with the ever changing symptoms. We all have those moments of "I can't take one more thing!"

I don t know if eyelid twitching is Fibro connected (I m suspecting that it is) but I, too , get it from time to time and it about drives me crazy .

It is always the same eye (left upper lid) as well as sometimes the left side of my upper lip . Noone else can see it but it bothers ME ~~~ aaaaargggghhh !!!!

This link talks about eyelid twitches and stuff being a side effect of Fibro but it also could of course be a side effect of one of your meds. Good Luck! Stacey Wink

Thanks Stacey!

It actually makes sense that it would be a side effect of fibro because it has to do with the nerves and muscles! Just didn't think about it until I read that article.

I'm convinced that it's the Plaquenil. It started right after I began it, and any time I've gone off it it's gotten better until I start it again. My ophthalmologist & rheumy claim it's not a symptom of Plaquenil, and the ophthy says that eye twitching is benign, but it drives me nuts! I've noticed that the longer I'm on the Plaquenil, the longer it takes for the eye twitching to go away when I stop it.
