I was wondering if anyone ever experiences pain in your back that makes it hard to breathe. When I try to take a deepo breath it hurts so much! It feels like my muscles are really tight. any suggestions on what I can do to stop this feeling?

I get that way sometimes. It's awful. Tiger Balm helps me a great deal. You can get it just about anywhere I would think. I get it at Sam's in a pack of 2 cans. I have my hubby rub it on and go to bed...helps so much.

I wish I had valium for mine! I have a bulging disc and everything gets tense around it. I also have horrible lower back pain.

I am having a series of problem for the last couple of weeks. I am falling, If i do not sit in a recliner, my feet swell up so bad and a strange feeling with it. Numbness in my left hand since I woke up at 7 is still here. My pinky and ring finger are numb and cold. I am wearing 2 gloves on that hand. I am getting a sharp pain in the top of my head. Nothing like a headache. It is coming from the inside. I have to wait until 5pm Monday to see a doctor.

Sounds like maybe you should go to urgent care or something. You might be having a weird migraine...I get the strangest headaches- and some just like what you're talking about. They give me IV meds for it sometimes. Do you have an urgent care or ER close by?

The numbness/coldness in your pinky and ring finger is probably because you pinched your ulnar nerve. (If you pay really really close attention it's probably only half of your ring finger that is numb) As long as you're elbow is not swollen, use a heating pad on the outside of your elbow and it'll probably loosen up those muscles. If your upper arm/upper back are numb as well, the pinched nerve is probably in your shoulder, use heat there.

Anyway...my back hurts all the time to the point where I can't breathe. Usually it's because I have a rib or something else that just slips out of place enough to make it extremely painful to breathe. Sometimes if I lay on my back on the ground and just slightly rock my hips my back pops. (granted it then takes me like 10 minutes to get up off the ground, but o well)

Barb, Lil might be right, but with that set of truly weird symptoms, you might need to go to the ER. You are the best judge of how serious they are, but this sounds like something you haven't had before, and it also sounds like you are scared.

Barb, Go to the ER now. You fell last week too so something is definetly wrong. Maybe you hurt yourself last week and don't know it. The cold pinky and ring finger is signs of a trapped nerve or some nerve damage. I get that too on my right hand because I damaged my ulna nerve at a Washington Redskins football game.

I wish I was there to take you to the ER.

When I can't breathe and my back hurts, it's because a rib has gone out and I have to go to the chiropractor to get it put back in. Sometimes just sneezing can do it and can also break a rib. I'm back from my cataract surgery and feel great. It was a piece of cake but a little painful when I got the shot in my eye because it felt like I was getting an ice cream headache. I didn't feel the surgery AT ALL. It was over in less than 10 minutes. Right now my right eye is taped shut so my vision is very distorted and I am seeing double with the cataract in my left eye. I would definitely recommend that anyone have it removed if they have them.
