Why wear a ribbon?

"I wear this ribbon because I have Fibromyalgia, chronic pain and I am a domestic..." (merlin96)

MDJunction to me

"All I can say is that this has been the best place ever. It has been six to seven months since I joined, and I have learned so much. I now believe in myself and accept myself on a completely different level. The people on MDJunction has been so supportive and accepting that I have been able to adopt it into my personal life. That has reduced a lot of stress in my life. Thanks to all." (bunnyfly)

I'm glad to see that you called the doctor. I hope that you get some sort of releif this weekend- before that appt. on Monday.

Can your body tolerate warm/hot water? Sometimes, when I'm having muscle spasms (twitching)- I can soak in the tub full of hot water and Epsom salts, and that will help.

I feel for ya! I DO hope you get some relief soon!

Oh! And I agree with Barbara... I hope that doctor you're gonna see in May of 2009 is worth it! That's an aweful long wait! What kind of doctor is he/she?

The Oxycontin is definitely stronger, not to mention it's released a little at a time which is proactive. It was very tough to find a dr to agree to that kind of treatment and to be honest, it was recommended by a pharmacist that had done extended work in pain management.

I don't know where you are in Mass, but here is some info that I found.

I still work 40 plus hours a week so I do move around a lot, I think that is what has gotten to where I am. I am working way too many hours, I need to slow down.

That's what I was wondering tsage, if floating and/or water resistance movements would help with nhlflagg's pain. Why doesn't the insurance company pay for swimming pools lol. When we went on Vacation last year, we rented a cabin that had two whirlpool baths in it. Just sitting in the tub with the jets on was heavenly.

I am so sorry you are suffering so much. I can definitely relate. I am in an incredible amount of pain, too.

I took the same as you are - the oxycodone with the tylenol, but you might see if you can get the straight oxycodone without the tylenol. If that does not help, you might need something stronger.

You might also want to consider going on one of the meds approved for fibro pain -- Lyrica and/or Cymbalta.

Neurontin at much higher doses helps some people with fibro pain, though it did not help mine.

Do you do any yoga or pilates mat therapy? I have heard those are helpful for relieving pain. Water exercises (in the arthritis class) is also a nice way to relieve pain. You may need a note from your doctor saying you can participate in the water arthritis exercise class.

I really hope you can find something to help you soon. Being in this much pain is not good, and you deserve pain relief!

I feel for you and hope you get some relief from your pain.

I wanted to tell everyone that The Arthritis Foundation in my area has a swim class dedicated for Fibro! It's in the deep end of the pool. We wear a flotation belt and do gentle exercises with no gravity! Twice a week. I love it. I hope other areas have it too.

Again....I hope you find relief.

I am going to check in to The Arthritis Foundation and see where they have program for people that want to exercise without the pain. When you come out of the pool does it hurt the leg right away? Is it like dragging you legs out?

That's what I'm afraid of Barb, is not being able to get out of the pool once I get in. I'm one of those people who can't float. For some reason I sink. If I had one of them flotation devices around my middle, I'd bet that the only thing you would see sticking out of the water would be my feet. LOL
