MDJunction to me

neshama48"Having Crohn's Disease for over 26 years, in the first few years, it lonely and isolating.
Though now my disease is in a near perfect remission, my friends and family are sympathetic to me, but I can not talk to them about this disease. When I stumbled across MD Junction, and met others who had the same disease I was not alone in battling the disease. MD Junction is like a second family, without the judgement or guilt of having Crohn's Disease, but they do give you love and support.

Hi everyone. I'm new here and newly diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. I was just wondering if there are any other newbies or younger women with Fibro. I am only 23 years old and while I was very doubtful about my diagnoses in the beginning, as I've researched more it does seem to explain a lot of problems I have had in the past. I was also skeptical because I have very one-sided pain in my upper back (I have minor pain all over, intense fatigue, sinitus, sleeping problems and tender points as well, but the back pain is what brought me to multiple docters). I have serious muscle tension all over, but my left shoulder blade, shoulder, neck and chest always have some sort of ache, burning, stabbing or throbbing pain. Does anyone else experience one-sided pain?

Hi Laurapat ...Welcome to our group ...

You are lots younger than me but sound just like me in that I think I have had Fibro a long time before I was offically diagnosed. I have nearly all of the symptoms you mentioned , ESPECIALLY the burning painful shoulder, neck area. That is the worst of mine right now ...

When I had a major flare up recently it did seem to center on my entire right side rather than all over.

I hope you find relief soon ... Take care ... Come often ...

Welcome Laurapat! I am new here also (to the group and the fibro diagnosis). I am a little bit older but have some similar problems I have severe tension in my neck and through my back and achy throbbing pain but it seems to just radiate throughout kind of towards the middle.......... I have noticed my right side bothers me in areas more than my left but it is not wholely one sided. I know it probly doesnt help much....... But talking really helps I have found.....I was so quiet for so long because too many people didn't take me seriously and now I am not afraid to speak up!

Hello and welcome! Yes, a few of my early symptoms were severe pain in my neck, right shoulder, right arm, and right wrist. Although the pain is widespread now, it still seems worse on my right side when I type, write, cook, etc.

Welcome Laurapat I am much older but my pain seems to jump from one side to the other today the left side hurts worse than the right. My left leg has a big knot just below the knee, someone set my left shoulder on fire with something you can't put out and I have sharp pains in the left side of my head. Tomorrow it may all be in the right side or down the middle, or who knows just for fun may be just one body part or twoSilly Devil Silly

Hi Laurapat. I was diagnosed one year ago with fibro. I was sent to a rheumatologist because of my pain and swelling. My PCP thought I had rheumatoid arthritis. After many tests and x-rays etc. The specialist came in and said good news you don't have rheumatoid arthritis or Lupus. You have osteoarthritis and fibromyalgia. I knew what arthritis was but not the fibro. I came home in tears and told my husband that I'm never going to a dr again cause every time I go they find something new. We looked it up on the net to find out what fibromyalgia is.

I've had these symptoms for a long time now but I was always told "I was getting older" No one needed to remind me of that.

I'm so sorry you got it at such a young age.

Hi, I am 22 years old and was diagnosed in February of this year. I definitely have the one sided pain in my mid back and in my left hip the pain is much worse. You will probably notice that the disease is pretty unpredictable in the way that it affects you but I think that is pretty normal.

Hi Laura,

I think my symptoms began when I was 29 and I have a niece who is 30 and has had it since her late teens. I've had neck & shoulder problems since I was in my teens too that used to be blamed on bursitis, then arthritis. I'm getting blessed relief from the very gentle adjustments I get from my osteopath. My first visit she managed to break up a lump of knotted tendon & muscle I'd had on my neck for 31 years. And with no pain too! She has magic fingers...

Hey there, welcome to the group Smile

I'm 26, but I was diagnosed with fibro when I was 24. My right side tends to hurt more than my left, especially my right arm.

I hope you like this community - everyone here is incredibly supportive and caring. You can talk about anything with us and we will all be here to listen Smile
