So how long can this flare keep going? I am not sure if this is day 3 or 4 now. I am thinking 4. It is all I can do to function. I can not get any restful sleep.

I can not lift anything over say 10 pounds. Everything hurts and burns and there is no energy. This cant last forever right? Any ideas what to do to ease this stuff?

Gosh I am sorry you have to be all flared up - yes usually a flare will taper down some after a while, but some good rest would surely go a long way for you, a warm bath might soothe some of the aches too, and know that we are all here to listen and help you through the flare up time (and non-flare times too!!) Sorry you're hurting so bad, I wish I could do something to help. You never know how long a flare can last and I don't want to be the bearer of bad news but some people have them for weeks at a time. You don't have a med that will help you sleep? I like the heating pad idea too.

Wish I could offer you something positive to hang onto.

The only thing I can think is that you are still doing too much and not giving the flare a chance to settle down.

You simply have to get some rest and sleep for the flare to settle....get off your feet, my dear, and keep it calm and quiet and if you watch movies make them uplifiting no "Jason" or "Halloween 27" and stuff like that.....

chill, sleep, let your dopamine and other brain chemicals that help us feel better get replenished.....You can call your doctor and ask for something stronger that wil get you through the flare....

I AM SO SORRY YOU ARE GOING THROUGH THIS it is horrid and frustrating and you can easily get depressed....but it will pass, somehow you and your doctor simply must come up with the right combination that will work for you, doln't give up!!!!!

all my love and prayers

Limit your caffeine (to none, if you can stand it), avoid MSG and aspartame. Lavendar oil & epsom salts in the bath...or hot shower and us the lavendar scented baby lotion or mix lavendar oil with unscented body lotion. Then try to sleep it off. Good luck...

I'm an Advocate

I use the Therma-Care large disposable heat wraps. They stay warm for a long long time, I think about 12 hours. I also like to wrap up in an electric blanket or throw also.

I hope you start feeling better soon and that one of our suggestions works well for you.

Hugs~

Christine

Thanks everyone for all the great ideas. I have tried the Therma Care and if the brain wasnt messing with me I would remember where I put them.

The vinegar didnt do too much and the warm shower helps for awhile. I would love to take a long hot bath but the RA/torn labrums/dysplasia makes it hard to get in and out of the tub.

I avoid msg as much as possible and have cut back on the caffeine. That is my only real comfort. I have had really bad reactions to many meds. I have a couple that I can take at bedtime but unless I cut it in half I cant take them. The only reason for that is my daughter has PTSD and she will vomit if she has night terrors, sometimes 3 or 4 times in the night. I cant be so out of it I do not hear her. I am a single parent and there is NO ONE who can or will help. My daughter has her hands full with a two year old and teething 7 month old. Once the adoption of my child was final Mr Wonderful decided he didnt want to be a dad and so many "friends" just faded away.

I went to bed early last night and fell asleep and woke up exhausted. My little one had a "bug" for a couple of days that didnt help. I can not reach REM for whatever reasons.

I am sitting here relaxing in the recliner and that has helped somewhat. I would like to just get away for awhile by myself but that is not in the cards right now.

I can sit here and get lost for hours with a dvd of Law and Order SVU..sure it gets intense at times but there is a chance Chris Meloni will lose the shirtTongue Wink LOL.The only "horror" pics I watch are Boris Karloff. They are good with out being horrible.

Oh and last night I was laughing so hard because I was watching Bill Engvall Aged and Confused. OMG that man needs some help!! I like him because other than jsut being funny, he doesnt get dirty and he speaks so highly of his wife and how after 28 years he still loves her so much. What a refreshing change that is these days..

Thanks again for all your wonderful advice, caring and support,Smile Smile Smile

Gheer,

So sorry feeling so nasty, and that there is no one to help with the little one, I know she's a handful for you, but just keep on thinking positive THIS TO SHALL PASS!!!!

But I as Connie stated, sometimes these flares aren't just a days thing, When I get my flares they don't stop for weeks and months, I've not yet had just a days thing....

Will be praying that you will feel well soon and (that a special friend will stop by and ask to help)

Blessings

Debi
