Today my chiro tested the trigger points and I was positive for almost all 18. He has decided to do some ultrasound on my back, neck and shoulder. He said he could feel many knots there in the muscles.

I also started on my Vit D. My level was only 23 with the range being 30-65 I think. I am nervous about this though. She wants me to take a mega dose of 50,000 IU's once weekly for a few weeks and then go to a smaller maintenance dosage once my level comes up. What do you guys think of this? I don't want to go toxic on this stuff.

Any input would be appreciated.

Linda

Linda,

I have had problems with my Vit D levels too. The 50,000 dose is exactly what I have had to take to get my levels back up. (I have to do it periodically cuz for some reason my levels keep dropping.) I am now on 1200 i.u per day and it seems to be keeping me within the range even though it's at the bottom. My theory is that if you are in doubt, get another medical opinion. Do you like your docs? If so, check in with them and ask your ?'s...that's what they are there for.

Best of luck to you & sending you warm hugs for relief!

Hi there, and thanks for the response. I have a call in to the doc this morning with my questions.

How did you feel taking the 50,000 IU weekly. And how long did you do this?

Well, let's see...I don't remember feeling much different when I took the "super dose" of vit d. Each time I have had to take the super dose I have had to take it for 6 weeks then get my blood levels checked.

Despite my taking the vit d continuously, my levels seem to drop every winter even if I am going outside. LOL

Let me know what the doc says when they call you back.

Ok, will let you know. Just curious if any of us on Vit D supplements were told to also take calcium and magnesium. I am reading that this is crucial for proper absorption? hmm...

I see my doc again in 8 weeks and she will retest my D at that time. Should be interesting to see what the level does. And even more interesting to see what it does as winter approaches.

my vitD level was 17 or 18 and my gyn was giving me 50,000iu three times a week and I did ok. I think it takes awhile because i did this for like 6 weeks and it was still only in the 40's and he told me we should shoot for 80's. My family doc told me around the 60's so who knows. I did feel better in the forty's.

Has anyone looked up where the level for Vitamin D should be. I am only taking 50,000 once a month now.

Hi Barbara, I've looked it up and different articles say different things. One said 30-65 and the other said 50-100?? I think 50 would be a good level from what most articles say.
