I took two ultram and two neurontin. All within the allowed dose for me. I woke up around 130am and my heart was beating around 2 times per second. It wasn't a bad off-rhythm beat. Just a fast beat. I also noticed a headache at the base of my head. I wonder if my BP was crazy high. I don't normally have high BP. In fact it's usually around 100/70 or 80. So now I'm afraid to take it in that does. Or maybe I shouldn't be taking it at all. Does it sound dangerous to you? I finally got up and took klonopin because 1) i couldn't sleep and 2) i hoped it would slow my heart. And I think it did.

Are you new to taking Tramadol? I have seen racing heart as a side effect when someone else had complained of it before. If you have never experienced it before with that med then you should talk to your dr about this episode, well you should probably tell them about it anyway. I hope you feel better and it doesnt happen again. I know how scary that can be. Gentle Hugs, Stacey Wink

I have to take meds for this, please check with your doctor just to be safe. If it keeps happening, they'll probably have you wear a monitor. Keep us posted so we don't worry, okay?

I've been taking tramadol for about a month. I am horrible about paying attention to these things. I might notice something is just not right but I usually just disregard that feeling and go on about my business. Then later when I notice it again, I'll be like "OMG that's my heart". Sometimes I know something is wrong but I just can't tell what it is or where it is. I know that sounds weird but it's true. I just am not as in tune with my body as some people.

And Mammy I will keep you informed if there are any changes. Thanks for your concern.

How scary that must have been for you ~~~ And, in the middle of the night when you were at complete rest, too.

I would definitely talk to my dr. about it and see what he/she has to say.

I have no idea if it might have been your meds or combination thereof that did it.

Let us know, okay ? I hope it doesn t happen again .

Marilyn

I also like Connie have to take meds for my heart, I had to have an EKG and then wear a Holter Monitor for 30 days to catch any episodes which they did, after that I had an Echocardiogram to make sure there was no damage to my heart which thankfully there was not along with a stress test. I did horrible on the stress test, the doctor said older women did better on it than I did. So sad lol. I am on Toprol XL which is a beta blocker. I have an Arrythmia, rapid heart beat. I was always blown off as having panic attacks until this Cardiologist I went to took me serious. When it comes to heart symptoms you should always take it serious and have it checked into. Good Luck Wink

That's why I am concerned because I take rythmol for an irregular heart beat. I've had it for 17 years. I went from taking beta blockers to taking an anti-arrhythmic because the blockers stopped working for me. I've actually worn the halter monitors several times. they have no idea what triggers my episodes. But I know I can't take any kind of decongestant. If I did I would more then likely end up in the ER. But my rythmol does doe a fairly good job at keeping my heart under control. Stress definitely contributes to some of my episodes. Unfortunately I have many things that cause me stress that I can't get around.

Just another thought about the fast heart beat. I agree that you need to mention it to your dr. I have found that caffeine sets my heart off into that butterfly feeling. I will take coffee in the AM but then limit to almost no more during the day. That settled my heart. It's a little late to add this but maybe you can think back and see if that might also be a culprit.
