In two weeks I'm going to Austin TX. to see DR. Roby. I'm very excited and hopeful that after 23 years of living, or trying to live, with this illness I might haev a somewhat normal life. Is anyone else going to see him? Please check out how much your insurance will cover. I put off calling becuase I thought it would be too much but it turns out my bc/bs insurance is going to cover all but the hormone therapy and treatment. W00t If anyone else is planning on going please let me know.

Susan

I cannot go down there right now, but I have been talking with my home primary care doc about him and his treatments. If I could get the hormone testing done up here and he thinks that I could be helped by his treatment, I would consider trying it. I am on a state Medicaid managed care plan in Ohio which will not cover any of the treatments, or the evaluation visit and tests. But if I had a doctor in my provider network do the preliminary testing and consult with him by phone, it might be doable. I am still in the "research" stage, but I've been paying attention to Hampton and MELeggs and encouraged by their good results....and willing to try anything at this point that won't make me worse or kill me! My hope is that this therapy of Dr. Roby's will eventually be available to everyone who qualifies and could benefit from it. Good luck and GodSpeed to you Susan, and keep us posted!

I will keep everyone informed about my progress. I believe Dr. roby is writing a book about his treatment so maybe, maybe before long other dr.'s will be able to treat the way he does.

WowLaughing Thats great I think if it works for you and Hampton, then I need to get down to Texas too. I'll find someway to get down there. I just need more convincing, after having this affliction for more than 30 years. I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope it works for you.Wink

I got home last night from Austin TX. I'm very encouraged by what I learned. I have started the allergy treatment. I lvoe that it's not a drug but a serum that desensitizes your body to what it is your allergic to. I felt the results with in minutes. my pain level went down a little and sinuses cleared up. I will not start the hormone treatment for two weeks. I have to stop smoking first because of possible complications. I smoked my last time on Thursday night. drinking club soda helps somehow with the cravings. I got the book "The Sexy Years" by suzanne Somers" and everything is making perfect sense to me. A nurse at Dr. Robys office suggested the book because it is similar to his treatment.

I feel very guilty for assuming suzanne Somers was just a pretty face and no brain. The woman is sharp!

My lab work showed I am very high in testosterone, low in progesterone, and extremely low in estrogen and HDEA.

I always believed there was something in my body that was not working proplerly. I felt better when I was pregnant so I knew hormones had something to do with it and I feel worse when my allergies are worse. My hormones have been unbalanced for a long time and my allergies have been causing jpain and swelling in my whole body. I believe I have found my answer and hope this can help someone else. I hope everyone will at least read the info on Dr. Robys web site.

I've had fms for over 20 YEARS. I have tried so many things and lost hope a few times but this makes logical sense to me and my husband and just from the allergy treatment I see an improvment. It will be slow and gradual and living a healthy lifestyle is a part of it. When I told my three children that I had quit smoking I couldn't believe how excited they were, you would have thought I told them we were going to Walt Disney World! Setting a good example is difficult but it's worth it, for me and them. I'm gonna take a walk now.Wink

okay, my update. I still haven't smoked and really don't want to. My sinuses are acting up so I'm goiing to clean my bedoom really well today. I have alot of allergies and need to do more to control the condition of the air in my home.

Dr. Roby told me to get a heart rate moniter(like runners wear) and keep my bpm under 120. He said when my bpm(beats per minute) gets over 120 or so, I release adrenaline and that leads to pain and swelling. I went for a slow walk yesterday and felt more relaxed afterwards. But I'm finding it very difficult to slow down. I've been running on adrenaline for so long it's hard to change.

I['m really wanting to start the hormone treatment. I'm going to call today and see if they will go ahead and let me start since I am not having a hard time quiting the smokes. Funny thing is, I am allergic to tobacco. and I read that smoking depletes certain hormones which would explain why I got worse over the past two years. I started smoking again two years ago. so smoking made my allergies worse and used up all my estrogen. If I could physically kick myself I would.

I am not saying it's no big deal to quit a habit, but if you know it's making you feel worse, much worse, it's a little easier to stop, at least for me.

I'm on this food allergy diet this week. I have to cut out certain foods for five days, then reintroduce one food at a time to see what I['m allergic too. I have already screwed up and it's just 7:50 am. I made a protien shake for breakfast and as I was drinking it I realized IT'S CHOCOLATE. Chocolate is one of the things I'm not suppose to eat this week. ;( I'm sure I'm not allergic to chocolate!! I can't be!!

I too live in Ohio and am on state Medicaid, Caresource.

I don't know where you are in Ohio but I have found a doc that I am going to get a referral for. He had fibro and specializes in it. He has written many books and he is very well know for his treatments. I have heard nothing but good about him. I called Friday and expected it to be like months before I could get in and she told me I could get in as soon as the first week of Aug. He is in Canton and his name is Mark J. Pelligrino,MD the number is 800-529-7500 if you want to check it out. I am going to for sure. I am desperate here.
