Can anyone tell me, how I am suppose to deal with this! I am on "no medication". I can not take Celebrx or Viox. I am at my wits end. I see Lyrica, but I am scared to death of the side affects. I am alergic to Asprin. My only relief is swimming & exercise. But, it seems like there should be "MORE" we could do.

I don't know if you know this, but the FDA just approved Cymbalta for the treatment of fibromyalgia, too.

Honestly, I'm scared of the side effects of Lyrica as well.

I am sorry that your option are so limited medication-wise. I wish I had more to offer you. *hug* if you want one.

Hi Celiece and Recovered ...

I m sorry to hear that you are afraid of the side effects of Lyrica. I am the same way any time something new is prescribed for me also. Maybe I can shed a little light on your fears of Lyrica.

I started take Lyrica in this past April. I am on 75mg twice daily. I usually take one about 11 AM and another around the dinner hour.

As for side effects, the basic one I notice is that I DO have less pain. Now, the very first day, I did have a couple of fuzzy periods during the day (light headed and a floating feeling but did NOT pass out or anything serious...just kinda made me feel giddy for a short minute but it passed quickly). The only other noticable effect is that I AM drowsy during the day and could take a nap at the drop of a hat. (I usually try to grab a nap between the time I get home from work and starting dinner.

I hope this helps allay some of your fears of Lyrica.

Well I don't take any medication either due to side affects cause I am so sensitive to everything. I found that on this site that some people go more towards natural sources. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Celiece I understand about the Lyrica. I have hesitated to go back to my doctor as I'm afraid she will want me to try the Lyrica. I take Cymbalta and it does help me. Other than that I take 2 Aleve in the morning and 2 at night.

I'm afraid since we are all so different in what works for us that is it a process of trial and error.

Edited because I CAN'T SPELL

Cinnamon, I have a web site that you can go to for help with Lyrica. I have the info in the car. I am at work and can't get to it right now, but I had sent away for infor and the makers of Lyrica had sent me info and they sent their web site for help with meds. I will get it and post it for people that need it. I am not sure if it will work but it is worth the try.

celiece I have tried Lyrica but it did not help me. But everyone's response to medication is different than another's. Alot of side effects to meds go away after several weeks of treatment. I am taking a few different meds. I take Neurontin 1800 mg a day, Vicodin as needed, Klonopin, Valium and Oxycontin 80 mg a day. Many people on here try over the counter or herbal type things. Also like others have said Cymbalta has just been approved for treatment of fibro. I wish I could help more...

Cinnamon, I went up to 2400mg of Neurontin and noticed absolutely NO DIFFERENCE in my pain. It workds for some people, but it didn't make a bit of difference to me and my pain.

I will talk to my doctor about it when I see her in August she wants me to get off my pain meds she said we dont give pain meds for Fibro, and I said I need something I cant take the pain. I was on 120 Percocets 10mgs a month. and she has me down to just 60 a month but what she dont know wont hurt her. maybe it will me I dont know But I just cant live on 60 pills a month. she was surprised to learn that at one point I had been on 180 a month. still didnt last the whole month because of my pain or because I had become addicted to them. I cant believe if someone is taking even 120 a month and they arent addicted is only fooling themselves. Once the doctor starts us on pain meds we become addicted, If you tell me you arent then lets see what happens when you stop takeing them... Cinn....
