I've been battling fibromyalgia and depression for a while now. The newest drug the've got me on is cymbalta, along with welbutrin and Lexapro. It kinda makes me nervours taking all these drugs together. Does anyone have any kind of feedback for me?

My first thought is what in the heck are your doctors doing?????!!!!!! That much serotonin is rarely a good idea! There's something called serotonin syndrome and it is bad.

Yeah, I really think you ought to only be on one serotonin med - Cymbalta, welbutrin, and lexepro ALL have serotonin/increase serotonin in the brain.

But don't just get off your meds yourself. Have your doctor titrate them because just stopping them yourself is also rarely a good idea!

I agree with recovered26. Why so many of bbasically the same med? I would talk to your doctor and ask why and maybe tell him you don't feel comfortable taking so many of the same med.

I would like to know if the meds were all ordered by the same physician and if it was a phsych doctor.

Are you tolerating them well?

Call a pharmacist and ask about the combination of meds. They are trained to know what NOT to allow to go together and what will interact... more often than not, they know more than doctors do about meds.

I agree with several of the things said here, like kitkatkmm said call a pharmacist and ask them.

Recovered26 is absolutely right that much serotonin is not good for you,it can cause a serotonin storm.

May life always bring you laughter.

Did this doctor get his degree from K-Mart? I agree with what everyone has said here. This combination of meds could KILL you! Talk to your pharmacist ASAP and like the others said, depending how long you've been on each of these meds, you'll have to be weaned slowly off them. WIthdrawals are not only painful, they can be life threatening as well.I was on Prozac and klonopin many years ago, and high doses at that and then I lost my job and insurance andcouldn't afford to take them anymore.I didn't know what was happening to me, I couln't sleep, I couldn't eat, my nerves were on edge big time.It took a while but then it hit me, Oh my God, I'm in withdrawal! It was horrible, I was told these drugs weren't addictive! I came out of this with no permanent damage, but others are not so lucky. So please research everything you can, listen to the other group members, and if need be, get another doctor or at least a 2nd opinion.

My husband is a pharmacist, so I asked him about taking those drugs together. He immediately said that he didn't think the drugs, Cymbalta and Lexapro, should be taken together because they are so similar. So later he researched it, and said in his opinion you should not take them together. He believes that Cymbalta would probably be the best of the 2 drugs.

Sorry it has taken me so long to pass this info on to you. You probably have already talked with a pharmacist by now. I have had major fibro fog this past week (still continuing) and actually forgot where I saw the question.

Gentle Hugs,
Carla
