Hello, this last week I have had this very bad pain in my lower back - sort of where the spine gets connected to the butt - it goes down to my knees and to the sole ofmy feet and my toes. Very very painful. Did MRI 2 months ago and it was clear for slipped disks, etc... But it is so painful - I have also been diagnosed with fibromyalgia - lying down is also very painful for the same reason. The situation is very very bad on the right hand side and I feel that the situation is gettign worse by the day. Yesterday, doctor prescribed Mobic but so far it is not helping. I'm becoming suicidal and very often during the day I find myself thinking there is no other alternative other than killing myself. I know you will find this contradictory - but I do not consider myself depressed. Can anyone help me in any way?

Pain is so debilitating and I'm sorry for what you're going through right now.

Is your doctor a rheumatologist? If not, you should consider finding one in your area and get a second opinion.

What kind of meds are you taking besides Mobic? I know you don't feel like you're depressed, but some antidepressants help relieve fibro pain. I'm taking Cymbalta and it helps a lot. It takes a while to find the right combination of meds through trial and error, but you will find one that works for you eventually.

If you continue to feel suicidal, go to the emergency room, tell them about your pain, suicidal thoughts, and that your having chest pain. They have to admit you if you have chest pain. During your stay, tell the doctors about all of your symptoms.

I hope you find some relief soon. You'll be in my prayers.

May God heal your body and soul.
May your pain cease,
May your strength increase,
May your fears be released,
May blessings, love, and joy surround you.

Hi Wanda...

I hope you are feeling much better by now. I just wanted to add a little note regarding your back pain.

Three weeks ago (for the first time) I had the worst back pain I have ever had in my life (and I have spinal stenosis). This pain was similar to what you describe except it didn t go down into my leg. It was on my right side below the waist but above my right buttock. I have a feeling it was definitely Fibro related and it is the first time Fibro has actually kept me down for more than a day at a time. Thank goodness I didn t have to work that week (vacation) or I would have had to call off.

I haven t had the pain since but I am going to be sure to discuss it with my Rheumy on the 22nd.
