Give a Hug
I need a hug today. I’m not usually one to complain, but I had a really bad scare yesterday and it frightened my 6 year old grandson so badly that he started throwing up.

I know they say that FM won’t kill you but sometimes I wonder.

5 years after having FM I developed diabetes. I’m sure it was from the rapid weight gain caused FM meds, or just FM.

2 years ago I suffered a grand mal seizure after taking Voltarin a common anti-inflammatory. Luckily when I had the seizure while in the shower, my daughter and grandson were here and thus my life was saved after the paramedics got me breathing again. My daughter was watching over me because I was covered in hives, I was convulsing and shaking uncontrollably. Mind you that she had all ready taken me to the ER and my doc and both released me.

Yesterday I went to the park with my grandson and while there I started feeling sick and light headed. I told my grandson we had to get home quick because I wasn’t feeling well. I was on my electric scooter and he was on his razor scooter and the park is only a block away. But I started shaking so badly on the way home I could hardly steer the scooter.

We got in the house and I immediately checked my blood sugar and asked my grandson to grab me some orange juice. My sugar was the lowest I have ever seen it. My grandson handed me the juice and said he had to throw up and ran to the bathroom.

So I’m in the bathroom holding his head with one hand and trying to drink the juice with the other and I’m shaking so bad I sit on the shower stool.

I ended up calling 911 and everything is OK now. I’ve never had a problem with keeping my sugar regulated and there is no reason for this to have happened.

I realized after everything calmed down that my grandson was so upset over seeing me shaking and thinking I was going to have another seizure that it made him physically ill. Poor little guy.

We are very close and it just breaks my heart that he had to see that happen to me again. I’m still all shook up over the entire incident.

The whole incident sounds very scary for an adult, not to mention a child. I am sure that he cares for you very much. Thank goodness he was there to help you get your juice. I hope that you are still feeling okay today, take it easy and take care of your self.

I agree, sounds very scary!! I have several family members that this has happened to. Do you have gluclose tablets to carry with you in case this happens again? They really come in handy when your sugar level drops and work very quickly. Watch you levels and get some rest today!!

I had something like that happen to my dad and it was very scary for me and mom as adults. I'm sure your gradson was very scared. Maybe you can talk with him and come up with plan in case something like this happens again so he won't be so scared. Sorry this happened to you and him. Rest up and take it easy today.

I knew this was going to happen. My daughter just emailed me and she won't let me pick up my grandson today because of what happened.

I only have one thing that I try to do every day and that is pick up my grandson after day care to help him with his homework. Sometimes I can't do it every day cause I'm just in to much pain. But it means so much to both of us.

This summer she put him in summer school so she only has to pay half a day of day care.

I know he will need to see me today to make sure I'm OK. I hope she will change her mind. But I guess I can understand also.

I hate this DD such much!!

I'm so sorry to hear about this happening to you. ((((HUGS)))) Hampton is right about the glucose tablets...I have had to use them also and for my oldest son. We both have low blood sugar and sometimes it can get quite low just when you don't think it will. These tablets really come in handy when you are not anywhere near someplace to get what you need. They fit in your glove box, purse, bag or pocket. When my son was young, I carried them with me everywhere. They're not expensive and might just work for you. Take care.

((Gentle Hugs to you)) I know that had to be so scary for you and I feel so badly too that your grandson was scared.

Hope your day was better today and even better tomorrow.
