Hello fibro family,

I am not at work today due to a snow mobile hit my car and ran me off the road on Sunday. I worked Tuesday and most of Wednesday but couldn't move me head and neck today so i didn't go. I am waiting on reg DR and ER DR to communicate to determine where we go from here. I have wip lash and lots of sprained muscles in neck, shoulder and back. I think I pushed my self a little too much and now I'm really paying for it. So far the pain meds were helping take the edge off but now i am not seeing a differance at all. heat packs and ice packs and biofreeze seem to do more than the vicodin. go figure. any suggestions are greatly appreciated. My poor family dosen't know me now because the mood swings are so bad crying to angry in just a few min. with out any warning . thanks to all.

I am so sorry you are suffering do much. What a terrible thing that had to happen to you! Have you tried a nice hot bath to try to relax the muscles? It wont help long term but it may give you some extra relief for a little while at least. Be careful with the heat, once I pulled a muscle and thought heat/ice alternating would be best and actually did more harm than good with the heat. I inflamed the muscle more, the dr said stick with ice only to keep the inflammation down. Every injury is different of course that was just my experience. Your dr I am sure already told you what was best and you know your body. If they didnt give you Motrin and you can take it then take some Advil to take down the inflammation. I hope you get some relief very soon, you will be in my thoughts and prayers. Gentle hugs, Stacey Wink

I would use those Icy hot sticky pain pads...They are great because you can put it on the exact spot you have pain. You really need to be in a neck brace so your neck muscles can heal without you using them too much.

Oh and one more thing. Because sometimes you don't know the extent of the damage FOR MONTHS or years after an accident, I would suggest you start using a pain diary!

I ended up not able to work for 3 years when I was only 20 due to a car accident and my lawyer instructed me to write down every symptom every day and use a pain scale and document document document...even the mood swings and difficulty your family is having because of this!

I'm not a sue happy person but you just never know...You may end up having to collect on the insurance later.

With Him we "live" no matter the circumstances. At His feet peace of mind can be found. Peace that passes all understanding is my quest now and forever.

Saying lots of prayers for you! I am so sorry!! Accidents can really send a person into a flare and add a bunch of new issues! Definitely keep with doctors orders - take it very easy, don't do alot, get the inflammation down. After a period of time, you Might benefit from a chiropractor, esp for the Whiplash injury.

*soft hugs*

Well I am so sorry to hear about your accident. You are certainly suffering more than fair, but with fibro you can hurt so much more. I know it is frustrating. And more than you deserve. The crying jags are normal, you haven't gone off the deep end ....there is just so much pain and frustration we can take before we cry, in anger, sorrow and frustration. Let it out. then figure out what you can and cannot do, realistically, and then lay it out for the family so that they can pitch in.

They may not do things they way you like, but realistically, does it matter how the towels are folded, as long as they are washed flded and put away. Let people help and let go of expectations, and allow yourself to rest and heal.....

Best wishes, I hope you feel better soon.

Natalia

Wow, hit by a snowmobile? Crazy world. The delayed reaction to pain is very normal for fibromytes. I know I read that somewhere, I just don't know where. Definitely get it checked out by your doc or the ER ASAP and remind whoever ends up treating you that you have fibromyalgia. If you have to wait to go in, take NSAIDS...they will keep the inflammation down.

Don't sign anything from the insurance company until EVERYTHING is concluded. They'll try to push you into signing a release form for $1000 which probably won't even cover your lost wages from this. When settling, take into account any lost o/t you would NORMALLY have worked.

The emotional seesaw is probably from shock. I agree with Tara(?) about keeping a pain diary, describe the pain, and rate it on that stupid pain scale, 1 no pain--10 passing out from the pain.

Some friends of mine were in an accident recently and the doc didn't give them anything but ibuprofen, not even muscle relaxers...the reasoning being "if we give you pain killer and muscle relaxers, then you might over-do and hurt yourself more", so be prepared.

I'm so sorry! I hope no one else was hurt and that you feel better soon.

v gentle hugs,

rayn

ty to all. My insurance company is great. They are even covering lost wages and dont have any hurry to meet with me untill all dr's are signed off and recovered. my kids and niece were with me and they are all perfectly fine thank god. I'm greatfull this is the extent of my injuries because from the witness reports if it had been a few seconds delay on my part reacting it would have been fatal for the snowmobiler and my passengers on that side of the car. How do you thank a gaurdian angle?!! TY for your prayers. I have DR appt tomorrow so we should have a plan to recovery then. I will keep u all posted. I hate keeping a journal but that does sound like a very good idea. I will start a note book tonight. Mean while i have the best medicine.... we call it Puggy Love. My 2 pugs won't let me be and have to be touching me at all times. Even if its just their paw on my toe lol.

Hugs and love to all. Bobbi

Oh, wow, Bobbi, I am sorry to hear that you are suffering so but from what you describe COULD have happened, I guess this is the least end result.

I am so glad noone was seriously injured but how scary it must have been for you .

All of the above support and advice given to you sounds very good to me. I think keeping the diary might be especially important down the road in case there are unforseen injuries now.

Take good care of yourself and don t overdo ~~~
