I don't remember noticing that anyone's posted information about this new law. I think Bush still has to sign it, but it's passed in the U.S. House and Senate.

It seems that fibromyalgia might be one of the conditions that could benefit from this new law. Here's a New York Times article about it:

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/06/26/washington/26rights.html? th&emc=th

And here's a link from the American Association of Peoples with Disabilities:

Thank you for posting this information. It sounds like the bill could indeed help us overcome some challenges.

I see that the law goes into effect January 1, 2009.

Those of us that will have a hearing before an ALJ, before that date- I wonder if our attorney's will in some way be able to use this to our advantage...?

Sleepwalking: thanks for the info. The second one, AAPD was a lot more infomative for me so if anybody else reads these be sure to read the second one also. I am so glad they are going to make SSD disabilities more in line with company disability. In the past when I was diagnosed with RA I met my company's rules for disability but not SSD so I could not work at my job,but I did not meet SSD requirements. So I was between a rock and a hard place. Hopefully this will help all of us. Thanks again.

If it is true and the bill includes disabilities r/t walking (pain and difficulty and SOB-shortness of breath) and impaired thinking whether it is fibro related or medicined related ---

We should be able to use this.

I hope people with fibromyalgia are able to use this bill. We so deserve something positive.
