Since Summer is now upon us I wanted to ask everyone to share their traveling tips. Where is the best place to go? How to make the ride more comfortable? Any suggestions on how to enjoy a trip?

Personally, I love going to the beach!! Its a place where I can relax and the sounds of waves are so soothing. Panama City Beach is my favorite!! Its a 12 hour drive so I have to break the trip into a 2 day drive in order to get there. Six hours in the car is enough for me in one day.

What do you like to do and where do you like to go?

Our oldest DD just moved to Des Moines IA. It's a 5 hour trip now, before she lived in Kansas City and that was 1 1/2 hours. If we take a trip first it wikll be in the fall. WE would drive to KC spend the night, then go the 3 1/2 hours to Des Moines the next day.

This is IF we can affored the gas!

When you are in the car for a long drive, I suggest stoping frequently so you can walk around and stretch. That is how I made it on my trip to Chicago and back. I also had a really good pillow with me.

BLB, It is hot and very humid here in florida. We have been getting rain almost every day. Just letting you know. For me the humidity and rain makes me hurt. So this is the bad time for me. I need the air on and we are living with family and they dont like the air on, so it is the war of the thermostat here.

I can't live without air...I hate going to florida when it is hot but this was the only time I could get off. Hope it is sunny when we come down...They live near Tampa.

Vacations don't work well for me in the summer. I can't stand the heat and humidity. We have the airconditioning on here for that very reason.

Our vacations usually involve short trips, weekends throughout the year. As you know- our youngest daughter is very involved in volleyball and soccer, which include Club teams. So, we often travel on the weekends. And we take our oldest daughter and her husband with us. It's become quite the family thing.

The only advice I have is to make sure to take frequent breaks. Get out of the car and move around once in awhile. (someone else said this too) Drink lots of water, and try not to over-do.

Those of you that are traveling this summer... have a safe and wonderful trips! Be sure to let us know about them too. I'd love to hear about where you're all going and what fun things you're doing.

Travel tips

1. Pillows pillows pillows .....

2. Don't over plan and over commit - stay flexible.

3. Try to keep you independence. That is, don't get yourself in a situation where you are locked in. For example, when visiting family, get a hotel even when you could stay in their home. This will allow you some private down time.

4. Don't stress over what you can't do, make the best of what you can do.

5. Don't forget your Meds!!

Find the Happy and squeeze !
