Well, through me....Tami (Thomasann1057) wanted to thank everyone on the forum for your hugs, prayers & letter writing help pertaining to her SSDI case! She really REALLY appreciates it all !!! And she misses 'talking' with everyone. She is currently sitting (or driving with her son) in a U-Haul truck driving 'home' to Virginia from Colorado. She'll be living with her aging Dad & trying to help out wherever she can! She hopes to be 'back online' & have her PC back by the middle of July!

Together, we spent many hours last week composing her 'letter' of how she spends her day to read for the judge. But in the end, the letter was not needed.

Tami's lawyer had a meeting with some people (?) from SSI that reviewed her case & 'denied' her case! That was a big let down!!

She was then preparing herself for her Date with the Judge last Friday. I had overnighted her an outfit to wear for the hearing. We went over possible questions from the judge & tried to keep everyones nerves calm!

Well Lordy Be.....she called me late Thursday afternoon...screaming with joy!

Wouldn't ya know it...the judge hearing her case was preparing for all his cases to take place on Friday...he read all her doctors letters & testimonials... He tells her lawyer...Heck, this woman can't work...are they nuts? And so he then stamped her file GRANTED SSDI

No more needs to be done...she will start getting her checks in 8-12 weeks! SHE GOT IT....WOW....I think all of Virginia was screaming for joy when the good news circulated though all her good friends and many relatives! She says it was like this huge boulder was lifted from her shoulders! I am sooooo happy for her. She is my BFF & deserves to be helped out...for all her years of hard work & her constant bad pain!! So in closing...You Go Tami....& again a BIG thank you for all you Fibbies out there that had her in your prayers & thoughts! You are all Fantastic!! Love & hugs to all of you, Dea

Well, I don't know her since I am fairly new here. However, I am so happy to read the good news. Reading what you said about the judge going over her records and what he said made me tear up. She must have been so relieved! I am very happy for her.

I've heard how difficult it can be to get SSD.....my prayers go out to her and her family. That's one less thing to stress about. Hooray for Tami!!!

Thanks everyone for your replies. I hope to talk to Tami sometime tomorrow...after she wakes up 'back home' with all her family. I'm sure she will be exhausted both physically & mentally!! It means the world to Tami to finally be going back home to Virginia. She was in Colorado for over 13 yrs I think and they were not the 'best' of years! But I keep telling her its like a brand new beginning....Monthly income..of which she worked & paid for ~ for so long!!! She doesn't have to depend on 'anyone' anymore for food on the table, rent, utilities, yadda yadda yadda & thats a big stress reliever all by itself! And she is once again with her 2 grown sons, her Dad & brothers & sisters! I am SO happy for her!! She hasn't had it "easy" since she was diagnosed back in 2005, so this nightmare part of her life will now be changed for the better! YEAH! Thanks again everyone....when she gets back to her 'online' life, I will definitely direct her to this posting subject! I already KNOW she will 'feel' your warm wishes & congrats as you are all so great! Have a great afternoon, Dea

WONDERFUL!!!I am so happy for her...she deserves it!!
I am so scared that my husband will get tired of dealing with all my aches and pain...that he'll leave. Most of the time,I'm just either too tired or in too much pain for us to have alone time. What do you do about intimacy?

Just to let everyone know, I talked with Tami yesterday & she made it safely back to her family in Virginia!! Yeah!! She almost had to be "peeled" out of the U-Haul truck..being all bent up & swollen from 25+ hrs confined to less space than your avg bathroom! But she is safe, sound, exhausted but sounds very happy to once again be surrounded by family & loved ones. Tami says to say hello to everyone & again thanks so much for your prayers & invisible 'hugs'. Have a great day everyone, Dea
