Craig asked at the end of another post (and I will get checked for Lyme Disease) what they thought brought on their Fibro. I know for me it was years of stress from child abuse. I have been in many support groups for child abuse and many, many survivors have fibro from the built up, and unresolved stress of their underlying childhood. I AM NOT saying that everyone with fibro was abused. I'm just saying it's a VERY common theme among survivors of abuse and I'm one of them.

I think mine was brought on by a rather strange and unexplained illness I had. I had a fever of 102-104 for a week, hives, vomiting that got to the point of not even being able to hold down water. Went to the ER,got a morphine shot, imapramine(sp?)shot for the vomiting, and a Benadryl shot for the hives. They sent me home and when I woke up 15 hours later I went to my doc and she said to go home and get some sleep, gave me Trazadone and Dramamine. It went away about 4 or 5 days later I am not sure cuz I was pretty out of it. It could be the child abuse induced stress though, who knows.
May life always bring you laughter.

You know, I have never heard about living through child abuse bringing on fibro. But it makes sense, as I have fibro and lived through an extremely stressful childhood, and then an abusive first marriage, etc, etc, etc. The stress continues, although I am married to a wonderful good guy now.

I'm going to research this some more.

Hope you are doing ok..

Sheila
