I was filling out my paperwork for the University of Virgina Pain Management Center and one of the questions that I had trouble answering was,

" What percent of need-to-do activities do you get done on an average day?"

The next one was, "What percent of want-to-do activities do you get done on an average day?"

What do you think?

I think what they are asking is out of 100% of need to do activities of daily living can you get done 50% or less and the same thing for want to do activities like, hobbies, shopping, gardening stuff that doesn't have to be done but you would like to do. They basically want a percentage breakdown of what you can accomplish out of 100%. Hope this helps explain things a little better.
May life always bring you laughter.

When my answer would be that I don't get most of the activities done because I can't do them. My family had to take over. I hurt to much to do anything. Standing hurts my SI joints really bad. I can't stretch my arms out. So do you do the cleaning? Do you do the food shopping? Do you go out of you house much?

Be careful how you fill that out Sandi, as that as you know will be part of your records and SSD might see it. My answer would be I get 5 percent of need to do things done and maybe 10 percent of want to do things done. My hubby does most of all the housework, I can maybe put a dish in dishwasher. I dont have much of a social life either.

Just be careful in what you answer, my friend. I will PM you.

Yes I'd mark a percentage that is in your favor. Maybe write down what you would like to get done in a certain day if you weren't sick then look at how many of those things you average on a given day. ADL's are important but as someone else mentioned even socializing and getting out should be included too. All of that impacts the quality of your life- not just housework but other things as well.
