Who out there is taking or has taken Cymbalta? I just started today with some samples from my doctor but I don't know how often to take it or side effects or anything. How long does it take to work? Does it have any interactions with other meds? How long does it take to work? I have a kind of buzzed feeling with a headache right now but I don't know if the Cymbalta caused it or one of my other meds or the combination or none of the above. I take blood pressure meds, vytorin, estradil, detrol, and Lorcet and soma.

Thanks!

Debbie

HI...I for one use to take Cymbalta...... I am glad that you are trying it......

But for me...it did nothing except, make me sick.... I has been a yr or more since I tried the last time....I have tried it twice now.....and will not try it again....both times the same thing,,,, It did not help me to sleep or with depression..... it made me feel like crap....hurt worse.... I kinda had some allergic type reactions to it.......

You describe a buzzed feeling with headaches... well the headache I remember...... the other I do no.....

I think that like with most meds...it is a very individual thing..... it the symptoms get to be to bad for you...... get with your doctor and get off it... but if it helps with little to know side effects....... go for it...

I wish you good luck and to soon have many pain free days....

Craig

I took Cymbalta for a few months. I think it helped me some. BUT they changed the dose three times and every time it went up it would make me sick again for a few days. For Me the out of pocket cost of it was not worth it. I wanted more result for my buck, I spend so much on meds I have to make them all count. But as Craig said it is an individual thing so it might really work for you. Good Luck

I have taken Cymbalta for about a year now. The dr gave it to me to help with the muscle cramps. It does help with that as I don't have the charlie horses at night. I take one before bed. I haven't had any problems taking it.

I took Cymbalta for about a year, but discontinued it because I could not afford it anymore and because it caused weight gain. It made my legs feel wonderful, though! Didnt do anything for depression. I believe you are supposed to start out with a 30 mg tablet once a day. Then your dr should be upping it to 60 mg once a day. I liked taking mine at night. I take most of my pills at night. I didnt get any headaches or anything on them. But everyone is different.

Hope it helps you!!

I have been taking Cymbalta for almost two years, I’m up to 90mg each night. I take it with Lyrica 225mg. When I first started taking Cymbalta, I would take it in the mornings and I got sick as a dog. Major headaches, extreme nausea, but my Doctor convinced me to stick with it for at least two more weeks. After a week of the first run, we moved it to night paired with a Phenergan. That did the trick! My pain was becoming manageable and the Phenergan kept my nausea under control.

I also learned that when I take the Cymbalta, I need to drink at least two glasses of water ~ that keeps the headache at bay.

To be honest, I cannot afford the Cymbalta either, but my doctor contacted their home companies and arranged for samples to be delivered to her office. Now I go each month and pick up my samples for free, and Cymbalta gets their name out there.

For me, it is definitely worth the extra steps I have to take to make it through the night (Phenergan and the water), because I feel so much better now than I was then.

I took Cymbalta for a short period because of the sweats it created the Rhumy took me off. I also got more depressed on them. My Rhumy said that is also a side effect.

I have been on it for a month but reading this I must be on a low dose. I take 20mg in the am for depression and so far it is doing absolutly nothing. I know it takes a while to work and now I think my dose may be too low. Plus in that department I am pretty med resistant so there just may be no hope for me. Who knows because I am also under a tremendous amount of stress right now.
