MDJunction to me

neshama48"Having Crohn's Disease for over 26 years, in the first few years, it lonely and isolating.
Though now my disease is in a near perfect remission, my friends and family are sympathetic to me, but I can not talk to them about this disease. When I stumbled across MD Junction, and met others who had the same disease I was not alone in battling the disease. MD Junction is like a second family, without the judgement or guilt of having Crohn's Disease, but they do give you love and support.

Does anyone else experience serious memory loss issues with FMS? My friend does and despite research I have done, her doctor insists it is not a Fibromyalgia Symptom. Too bad the National Fibromyalgia Association disagrees, but how much do you fight with a doctor without coming across as some kind of know-it-all?

If you have memory issues, has anything helped? She has tried several supplements, but has issues with things effecting seratonin and dopamine levels.

Thank you!

Kelly

Yes, I'd lose my head if it weren't attached to my body. Everything goes on a calendar, to do list, e-mail, or post-it note.

I have been writing a check and couldn't remember how to make the letters. On really bad days I have forgotten how to spell my name. To me it seems like the forgetfullness is getting worse.

Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most. That was my favorite saying when I was younger. The memory loss is common in people over 40 or so my doctor says. It comes with needing longer arms for reading. Everything seems to be shrinking after 40, memory, arms etc, everything except my butt. I've been thru the forgetting how to do things or taking a few minutes to remember what the heck you want to do or how to do it. The name bit I've done recently. Someone asked for my last name and I told them my maiden name for some reason? But luckily, the fibro fog comes and goes and I just laugh it off. Its better than being depressed over the whole thing.

I'm an Advocate

I haven't had all-out memory loss, but I find that quite often I forget a word I'm trying to say... or when I go to speak, it doesn't come out at all like I want it to. It happens when I write as well. It makes it difficult to have a conversation with someone I don't know well, because though I'm intelligent, I don't always appear to be. I worry about making phone calls, and lately, meetings are extremely difficult.

I'm not a doctor. Please take my advice as it is intended: as advice.

kitkatkmm, I know exactly what you mean. Sometimes I open my mouth and the strangest things come out. I'm always looking at someone & saying "That didn't come out right, did it??" Oh, and now I type that way.Pinch

BTW welcome to the group.

Hi, I am new to this forum as of Wednesday and I have been reading and reading and reading all of the post that have been coming in my inbox...WOW....I am blown away! My primary diagnosed me and said, I have some stuff for you to read, and let me know if you think it fits. I was like...I dunno...but after hearing all of the stuff ya'll go thru...I am convinced it fits. ESPECIALLY the memory loss! I always blamed it on my hysterectomy...I told everyone..."I think they took some brain cells along with everything else..." I have a terrible time remembering day to day stuff at home as well as work. I can't remember alot about when my kids were small...I can't remember special times I spent with friends. But the thing that really bothers me the most....I only remember the bad times growing up. I was physically and mentally abused by my mother until I was 16 years old. Then it was just emotional abuse til the day she died. My sisters are always saying..."don't you remember...." It drives me INSANE!!! I am forever writing notes on postit's and when I accomplish the task....I throw it away. I have to make lists...notes to remind myself to do something...all the time. When at work...I bet I go thru a postit note pad a day! I also have the responsibility of being first on the phones....and I keep a steno pad by the phone and I HAVE TO WRITE DOWN EVERY PERSON'S NAME THAT CALLS AND WHAT LINE THEY ARE ON! Otherwise...I can't remember who is on which line and who the call is for. It is so aggrevating. And then my boss seems to think I need to memorize all the Guys (28 Electricians) cell phone numbers so I can recite it to him when he quizes me. I told him point blank...my motto is "why memorize something that is written and I can read it when I need it?" He told me I needed to try harder....now I can bring these articles to him and show him...WOW...again...I am blown away! Thanks so much for all the info!! I will keep reading and when I can....I will offer suggestions as I come to realize what this disease entails! Hang in there everyone!! BE STRONG.
