It is 10.30pm and I am about to go to bed, but thought I would leave a message and hopefully get back to the site tomorrow night. Have work tomorrow.

Just wondering if anyone has had success with change in diet and introducing exercise. If so, can you share what has worked.

I had put on some weight so began walking and joined the gym several months ago. Since then, I have discovered I have planta faciitus and heel spurs (painful) and had special orthodics made by the podiatrist. My feet are always in pain but I really want to lose weight and get fit.

I do water arobics in a warm theraputic pool at the club and it help but you have to go at your own pace that is why I do it on my own with their thing you use in the pool...I am usually there when the seniors are there. Warm water really helps with the pain. I cut our sugar and white products...I use Agave Necture to sweeten my tea. I drink decaffinated tea and very little coffee. It has helped. Also had my vitamin D level checked in my blood and it was low so my Rhumie put me on vitamin D 50,000 units 1 time a week and it has help really...hope this helps.

I have had planta faciitus twice, I know exactly what you are going through. My doctor did not want me to exercise until it quite hurting. When it did, I started walking, very slowly and only 1/2 mile at a time.

Good luck and I hope your heels quit hurting soon.

I have. I also wanted to ask, did the doctor do any xrays or anything to determine the plantar faciitis? I have been diagnosed with that also, but my doctor said that before referring me to a podiatrist he wanted me to do a NSAID therapy. He believed that the fibro had selected that particular area to inhabit at the time because it was the area of stress. (I was on my feet all the time, I work at a place that has concrete floors.)

I did the therapy and on advice from a friend bought Superfeet from REI. It worked so well. I don't have the problem now. I do get tendonitis in all my tendons, but it comes and goes according to fibro fate.

My recommendation to you is to wait on the walking and let yourself heal. Get from your library or look online for the "Sit and be fit" classes. This is meant for anyone who cannot do regular exersises. I highly recommend it even tho it seems outdated it really works.

Also, no matter what, do not give up.

I bought some chewable vitamins for myself, to help with absorbtion, and I have been feeling much better. I also have lost weight with portion control. We have diabetes and obesity in my family as well and are right now training our kids on eating according to portion to control and differentiating between stomach hunger and "head" hunger. Are you bored or hungry kind of thing.

Good luck.

Write to me if you want for more info.

Susie

HI... yes I do exercise.....not the usual ones... I ride my horse and I do work around the farm...... fix fences and just general stuff..... I hve found that by doing this I feel better mentally....like I have actually done something useful..... also even though I do pay for it later ....it has increased my ability to do more the next time without so much of a pay back......

I truely believe if you don't use it you will lose it.......

It hurts me everytime...... and I know it does others..... but the thoughts of someday being in a wheelchair permanently.... I have had from time to time to be in one and do not wish to any more..... I think if you can possible do any, any kind of movements...... you should..... from wiggling your toes... to jumping jacks.....

This is just how I feel....

Craig..

The only exercise I really get is walking my dogs for about 1/2 hr 2 times a day and working in my flower garden, which sometimes is very grueling! I have a big garden. I think as long as I am moving around, I am getting exercise. Sometimes I have to push myself to keep going because the pain is bad when I do certain things, but I keep reminding myself I am not going to die from it so I press on. I am sore afterwards usually but I am still kickin!

I went for physical therapy a few times. But he alwyas hurt me. I got to the point I hated going, so I quit. And others have this problem. Is it because the muscles are diferenent from normals. And of course, once the insurece runs out - so do they. I'be been having pain that occurs at the pack of the leg right where the ankle starts. Is this theright place ya'll are talking about? kathy

I swim in the summer early morning and also walk 1k a day not like a grayhound just a normal leisurly walk. But with your feet like they are maybe there is somthing else you could do to keep the pressure off your feet.Do you have acess to a heated pool where you live as that is really a nice gentle exercise to start with.Any way I'm rabbiting on again so good luck.
