I have been a real space-case lately, so if I already asked this at some point, please ignore me.

I think I mentioned once that we moved to Florida from Arkansas thinking that the warm weather would help me to feel better. Well, I am way worse here and have been mostly bed-ridden for months now.

This may still be from when I had mono in March, but all I know is I have been terrible since we moved here a year ago and just continue to go downhill.

Anyhow, we have been discussing a move to Colorado. We lived there about 20 years ago and loved it, but I wasn't sick then.

I hate cold. I'd almost rather be dead than be cold. However, the heat here is horrible too. Or maybe it is the humidity. I hardly leave the house anymore.

My husband has a theory that the pain is from a combination of the humidity and the pressure. Of course the pressure is higher at sea-level so it weighs more on my body.

He feels that a move to Colorado will help because we will be higher and the climate will be drier. He thinks with less humidity, even the cold will be more tolerable. I just don't know what to think.

Sorry this has gotten to be so long of a post. I just wanted to see what you all thought about how climate affects your symptoms.

Good Morning Kat5150, just wanted to respond to your post...I live in Norhtern Michigan and I know that the climate totally messes with my body and pain! The winters kill me anymore, I only go outside to take my daughter to school and pick her up. Then of course we get springtime with the rain and that makes me real sluggish, and in the summer when it's hot and humid I feel almost comatose! I've lived in Michigan my entire life and my origianl Dr. told me that I should move to Arizona where it wasn't so humid, and I wouldn't have to deal with the snow and cold..BUT here I remain in Michigan going with the flow (lol) my family is all here and my husband wouldn't move anyways, neither would my kids. So I do understand your dilemma and wish you the best! I know what you're going through! Take care and good luck! Hope you have some painfree days ahead. Gentle Hugs!

i am just giving my opinion so this isnt like scientific or anything. i live in southeast missouri which is cold in the winter hot in the summer (extremes on both of those) and it is extremely humid. I agree with your husband that it does have to do with the pressure and the humidity, also my allregies are awful here and when they act up i hurt a lot worse. It seems that the air would be cleaner of pollen and all of that in colorado. I am planning a move to michigan in about a month and all of these factors came into play.

Allergies can be miserable too. Here the weed pollen has been very high for over a month now. Since I stay inside it isn't too bad, but I'd love to go outside and enjoy myself.

Colorado is so beautiful and the air is so clean. I do love it there. I'm just afraid. Moving here was such a bad move. I hate to move again and have it be a mistake.

My husband thinks if we go out for a week we will be better able to decide. I told him a week won't tell us much. Especially with it being almost summer. It won't tell me how winter will be.

He wants to go out there next week to look into jobs and housing. If it all looks good he'd like to move in August or so. I am a basket case.

Kat, no matter what you decide about the move, I wish you well! I have thought about moving myself...only I have thought about moving to FL. LOL My mom goes there for about 1/2 the year to get away from winters. I am here in WI and can tell you that the weather definitely effects how I feel. I have been having a horrible time of it since last Fall and had great hopes that this spring I would start feeling better. Well, guess what? I am still waiting. I have also been going to the pain clinic and have had my meds changed a few times so I am hoping that things settle down soon. I usually do pretty well here in the summer but I have to keep the A/C on to take out the humidity in the house so I sleep better. I tell ya, if it's not one thing, it's another. At least we all have each other for support!

Gentle hugs to you and best of luck with your decision!

Well I can to also relate. I grew up in Michigan then moved to Chicago where I was stricken with fibro to eventually moving back to Michigan where I live now. The winters are very rough on me, in fact I seem to be worse since I moved back to Michigan than when I was in Chicago. The humidity also can be hard on me although I do feel better in the summer. I have been to Kentucky (where my family and I are originally from) to Texas. Venturing to both places I noticed that I feel a lot better there (at least while I was there). I have consider some day down the road moving somewhere like that with warmer better whether. This winter especially has been the worst. I believe pressure and climate does have an affect.

I was really surprised at how much worse I am in Florida. I mentioned it to my doctor and she said, "Well duh!" Hmm, guess I should have called her before I moved. lol I had no idea, but she seemed to think it was obvious. I'll have to ask her about it next time I see her.

I live in Alabama, and we don't experience cold winters like lots of you do - but the cold here still bothers me. I also have lots of problems in the summer, so I really think that the humidity has a lot to do with how much I hurt. Weather fronts also cause a lot of pain. Sometimes in the spring and fall, when the humidity is low and the sun is shining, I still hurt a lot. I've found that I usually have worse problems when a front is moving through the state (which is often) this time of year. So I do try to keep track of the weather more now.

Unfortunately, you probably won't really know how the Colorado climate will affect you until you actually live there a while. I do agree with others that having less humidity might be just what you need. Hope all goes well.

Gentle Hugs,
Carla
