I'm not really good at sharing my ups and downs. I would rather share the ups, but I've had kind of a bad week so far. I am in the middle of finding a new doctor for my FMS. My nuerologist kind of let me down. I called on Tuesday cause I couldn't hardly stay awake; I felt like I was in a fog; I was in pain; and I had been having mood swings for a week or so. His nurse, on Wednesday, told me to call my ob/gyn, since I had a complete hysterectomy in January. I did. Her nurse called me back in a couple of hours and said that my doctor did not think so, as we had used injection to stop my production of estrogen over 8 months ago. (I forgot) Besides, the reason we did the surgery was because of debilitating migraines, so we are not going to do estrogen no matter what. So, I called my neurologist office back. I still have not heard from them. I called my primary care physician and got a referral to another doctor who she feels is good for FMS. We'll see. I'm disappointed in my neurologist. I felt like he gave me so many answers to my problems last year, and I feel like my life is better because of his ability to get to my problems, despite my inability sometimes to describe what and how I was feeling in an objective manner. I just keep telling myself that maybe that diagnostics is what he is best at, and that I will be better served for the next part of my FMS journey with another doctor. I hope so. Any recommendations for a good doctor in Nashville, Tennessee? Thanks for helping out a newbie.

Sherry

Sherry, I'm sorry to hear about your problem with the doctor. Unfortunately, there are a lot of doctors who treat FM like is just a cold or something. I don't know of any doctors in Nashville, but I do have a friend who might be able to let me know of one. I'll be happy to ask and let you know. I've had a total hystorectomy too and to me it sounds more like the fibro than menopause. I hope you feel better real soon. Does your doctor at least have you on pain meds? I also wanted to say, that its possible that the nurse is the one who screwed it all up. Take care and gentle hugs, Georgia

Well, things are not all bad. I talked to the new doctor's office today to get set up, and the lady sounded very nice. The doctor is a rheumatologist, which according to the very nice lady is exactly whom I need to be seeing for FMS. Of course, the first appointment available isn't until July. I'm feeling better though, so maybe it was just a temporary rough spot. I am going to try to do better about getting online and checking in with this group. It helps me feel better, too. Thanks.

Sherry
